I mentioned years ago that if the size disparity went the other way, Manny would dominate. Nobody took too kindly to it. Too hypothetical. "if my aunty had balls...", etc-That kinda thing.

Yeah, Floyd is going to get f*cked in the ass harder than you did at the hands of your employer who passed your worthless polack ass up for that promotion.

At 38, his advantages have largely diminished. I see a realistic chance for Pacquaio to put a fierce attack on Mayweather and break through his fairly spotty defense.

Personally I would give Manny more of a chance had they fought around the time he demolished DLH/ Hatton.
I do wonder if Manny were to win to what extent we would read the "PBF was too old" excuse...

They are both old and near retirement now. Five years ago this was an epoch-defining fight. Now it is still a huge fight (and I am genuinely looking forward to it) but it doesn't have the same historical resonance as it could and should have had if it had been done when it should have been done. Floyd is clearly diminished but Pac looks further over the hill and I expect Mayweather to win reasonably comfortably.

Yup, whatever happens now, like Lewis-Tyson, it'll leave nearly as many questions unanswered as if they hadnt fought at all. Cant muster much excitement for this one now.

Five years ago, Manny had a legit shot at winning. I still think he's good enough to be competitive but I pick Floyd by UD or late stoppage. Would love to see Pacquiao pull it off though.

Are you serious? Fights are won in the ring, not on paper. And despite Mayweather being the favourite, this fight is still intriguing.

Perfect scenario for Floyd would be this. Fight goes to cards and floyd wins a controversial decision. They rematch in September and floyd collects even more money, dominates and retires.

    Mayweather by UD.

Mayweather controls the negotiations outside and inside of the ring. Pacquaio has agreed to everything to make the fight happen, agreeing to lose to Mayweather. Gloves will be pillows, ring will be large, and ref will be breaking them every milisecond...Perfect scenario and Mayweather is comfortable now to sign...

    Mayweather-Pacquiao glove situation

Floyd Mayweather will not be dictating the gloves Manny Pacquiao can wear when they meet May 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. One of the big points of contention in Mayweather’s two 2014 fights with Marcos Maidana was Mayweather’s insistence that Maidana not wear his gloves of choice. Pacman is expected to enter the ring with his normal Cleto Reyes gloves. Mayweather will use Grant gloves.

Looks like you've been proven wrong already.

Fuck yeah it has. This fight isn't shit compared to what it was at post Pac beating the shit out of Marg. Maybe to the general public it is somewhat close... but even then I think there's a big difference in perception to it's importance then vs now. We here all know this fight is a shadow of what it coulve been. Id pick Mayweather back then or now. But it is not the same fight in any way.

You're basically admitting Floyd is a coward and takes the path of least resistance.

Funny even on ESPN they show a pic of them facing each other (shopped form other fights) where they look the same size, but if you see them at that heat game Floyd is significantly bigger

Thanks for the info. I hope that's the case. Pacquaio's has a better chance if he wears Mexican puncher's gloves.

This is going to make one hell of an ESPN 30/30 Documentary one day. As for the current state of both fighters, I'm fine with it. Its still the biggest fight in boxing today, they are still the two of the best fighters today. I'm really excited.

Even if they have lost a step they are still several steps ahead of virtually anybody in boxing in terms of class.

call it what you want. he takes the fights that make him the most money for the least amount of risk. he admitted this when he beat delahoya. nothing different than ray leonard did after he beat hearns.

do you think it is a coincidence that this fight got made now that top rank has ran out of opponents for pacquiao and his last PPV completely bombed?

Too bad clinching is more or less legal nowadays. It will ruin this fight just like it ruined countless others.

5 years ago Floyd would had boxed in circles around a frustrated Pacquiao, but the moment Pacman would had landed a clean bomb was going to be over for Floyd. Now is different. Both are older. Both are not as fast or as untouchable as they used to be. Manny hasn't stopped no one since Miguel Cotto five years ago. Floyd didn't look that great against a B-level Maidana. Floyd can surely still outbox Manny. Can Manny still hurt Floyd to produce a stoppage? I don't think so. can Manny hurt him enough to put him in queer street and hang on for dear life? Very possible. That is why this fight is still interesting. Not as much as it was five years ago, but still interesting enough because it's just going to finally happen.
