Goodfellas. For one, it's based on a true story (the book "Wiseguy" as narrated to Nicholas Pileggi by Henry Hill), and aside from a couple of composite characters is pretty true to real life. Plus, it just holds up much better as a movie overall.

Goodfellas. But only slightly since I've watched both movies a dozen times and never get tired of it.

Pulp fiction! Great movie. I've never seen goodfellas. I bought the dvd and it's just been sitting there still in plastic for years. Don't even know why I still haven't watched it.

I like both but Goodfellas is better. They're two of the very best American movies of the 90s though.

Same here, I like both pretty equally but will add that "Goodfellas" is a better made movie then "Pulp Fiction".

I like most of Tarantino's stuff to a certain extent, but he's not half or even a quarter of the film-maker that Scorsese is.

Scorsese's craft got better with time. I would say that QT is better than Martin when Martin was his age.

To my own taste Tarantino's improved more through his career than Scorsese. Reservoir Dogs and Pulp fiction have some pretty jejune/irritating aspects to their style/dialogue that i thought were ironed out in Django and Inglorious. Scorsese did TAXI DRIVER in his early 30s - impossible to improve on that.

IMO, as far as Italian mob movies go, there's the holy trio of the first 2 GFs and Goodfellas, and then there's the rest.

Taxi Driver was a good movie, but it had many flaws in Sound and some of the editing was a bit strange. It was written well, and that wasn't Scorcese. QT is involved in writing his movies. I think the scorcese of today did Taxi Driver, it would be MUCH better.

Godfather isnt really about the Mob tho. It's more about Family. When it comes to Mob Movies, Goodfellas, Casino & Donnie Brasco are up there.

    I don't think it's that close.

Goodfellas is better by a clear margin.

    not surprised you think this

Godfather is about a mafia family. That's like saying Casino is more about opening casinos than it is about the mafia. Casino was the most inferior of those three films, imo, because the most interesting aspects of the protagonist (Lefty Rosenthal) & his life were left out (mostly because they occurred before he was in Vegas). Donnie Brasco was great, though. Godfather I & II are the best fictional mob movies, hands down.. Goodfellas is the best based-on-real-life mob movie, followed by Donnie Brasco & then Casino (imo)

    with you on this

Django was a terrible movie, I haven't seen Inglorious.. RD/PF were the best of his movies, everything else I've seen from Tarantino has been fairly shitty

When i was little, i watched a taxi driver and hated it. And when i was like 24, i watched again after like 13 years and loved it.

Goodfellas is way overrated and is not as iconic as Pulp Fiction which keeps growing in stature among movie fans with the passing of time. I could stomach 'Goodfellas' only one viewing, but I have watched 'Pulp Fiction' more times than I can remember.

pulp fiction is a pile of shit :dunno: it's good in the way the story is jumbled up and all...but the dialogue is horseshit, how can anyone not think otherwise :scratcher:
uma thurman and john travolta talking about milkshakes and dancing..uhh yeh, genius :scratcher:
tarantino giving himself a huge part and talking about coffee....right ok
