Exactly! Probably the single best introduction of a fighter in any one fight.

People prefer Lennon over Buffer for some dumbass reasons.

The purpose of a ring announcer is to electrify the crowd.

Who in the HELL is ever excited by "Ittttssssss SHOWTIME!"

I can remember VIVIDLY watching the first Tyson-Holy fight, and thinking it woulda been soooooo much better if Buffer was introducing them.

I liked Lennons Tyson introductions, the way he longed out the "Miiiiiike" was cool, plus the "really needing no introduction the world over...". Agreed that "It's Showtime" is shite though.

Lennon's Tyson introductions were quite GOOD. Of all the fighters Lennon introduced, he did by FAR the best job with Tyson.

Still, for just ONE FIGHT....... Buffer in the Spinks fight introduced Mike like none other.

 

Much as I hated Lummox Loser, Buffer also did a helluva job introducing him.

I was the ring announcer for Stampede Boxing at the Deerfoot inn and casino in Calgary in the summer of 2006. A raucous crowd of 85 was treated to my art.

I know the ring announcing game. Lennon Jr is better.

 

Lennon Jr's work with Trinidad was some of the finest ring announcing ever.

We can agree Chuck Hall was better than both, yeah?

 

He did a fine job with Tito, as well.

Tyson was his best work though.

However, there's just certain fighters that Buffer DESTROYS Lennon on. A perfect example is Floyd. Lennon's Floyd introductions are garbage.

And thank God Roy only fought on HBO. Lennon's Roy intro's would have never touched Buffer's.

 

The Tito disparity is just as big the other way. Buffer couldn't do Trinidad.

 

Also, Lennon Jr is classy.

 

For Ray Leonard and Hearns? YESSSSS!

I don't think Lennon or Buffer could touch Hull in introducing those two.

His Leonard introduction was the best.

 

I think Tito's the ONLY fighter I can think of that I'd give Lennon the edge over Buffer.

His Hagler was also incredible.

My favourite Hall moment is Hearns/Duran, the first time Hearns is introduced as The Hitman.

Hall's the greatest.

What can't be debated is that Buffer is better for THIS fight! Buffer's Floyd intros are 100x better than Lennon's, as are his Pac's.

 

Looks like it will be Buffer for Pacquiao and Lennon Jr for Mayweather. I'm cool with that.

 

I say fuck it! Let's experiment with something new......... Tyson calls the whole telecast by himself. Blow-by-blow, analysis, and interviews.

All that shit Floyd tries to do with intimidating Merchant and Kellerman in interviews...... betcha he aint pullin that shit with Mike!
