REED Doesn't Recall Anyone Saying That... Neil's Bent Out of Shape Because Pacquiao's Legacy would Benefit MORE from a Victory, but that DOESN'T Mean Floyd's Legacy Would Remain Status Quo... REED:hammert:
The perception's definitely that Pac has 'aged' more. The shift in the bookies reflects that - you weren't seeing 5/2 on Manny 4, 5 years ago.
Of course it wouldn't be meaningless, no one insinuated that. I would probably consider it Floyd's best win. Pacquiao is still an amazing fighter.
"Like I said before", Floyd's style is far, far more conducive to aging well than Pacquiao's. A bit like Hopkins. Pure skills and craftiness and defense. Pacquiao has always had a young man's style, all energy and ferocity, of course that's going to suffer more than Floyd's style.
It's Gonna Be a Looooooooooooooooooong Ass Couple Months, Going Back & Forth w/DEFENSIVE Ass Floyd Fans... REED:mut:
Agreed. Floyd didn't look great against Cotto and Maidana, but I thought he looked excellent and sharp against Rob and the fat legged little Ginger. It just goes to show that an aging Floyd is more susceptible than ever to pressure fighters. Problem for Pacquiao is he's now more of a boxer than a pressure fighter.
Yep... Bernard Hopkins and James Toney are Both OLDER than Roy Jones, yet their Styles AGED Much More Gracefully... REED:hammert:
Manny will be the aggressor and will drop him twice (Floyd will claim were slips), will have Floyd running all night ala DeLaHoya vs Tito, Floyd will clinch all the time with multiple warnings from the ref, but no points deducted. At the end Floyd wins via split decision while the crowd boos. All tv sports commentators bash the bout and boxing as a sport for the fiasco they just witnessed. An agitated Bob Arum calls for an immediate rematch.
Choochoo. The REED said he might be able to muster the old fire/intensity one more time which sounds plausible but history seems to argue against that - when has an intensity/volume guy ever reeled back the years to pull one last really great performance out the fire? Im pessimistic.
Same here. I hope it can happen, but I too am pessimistic. It's a shame too, as a Pacquiao fan. I'd love to see him come out guns blazing, and just put it on Floyd every second, like he did to Barrera. But I can't see it, I just don't think that's who Pacquiao is anymore.
WOW!!!...REALLY!!!???... There 1nce was a Fighter Called "The DURAN", who SPECIALIZED in just that, in the Latter Portion of his Career...Particularly in his Bouts w/Davey Moore and Iran Barkley, Fights he Probably had NOfuckingBUSINESS Winning, in Actuality... Disappointing, Brother Hut... REED:scared:
Duran is kind of the exception though. In his half arsed phase of his career, a few times he was able to find the fire and pull out some amazing performances. But it was mainly down to skill and craft with Duran, he obviously wasn't the same hyperactive beast he was at lightweight. For example, against Hagler and Barkley, he was just on point and focused, rather than full of fire and energy.
The Duran wasn't having to chase anyone down or force a fight in those matches - he was beating up aggressive guys with slickness. He was basically the counter puncher. Exception that proves the rule Mr. The REED!
Valid Point... Floyd's More of a "Cutey" than Duran's Opponents Were...But @ the Same Time, Floyd DOESN'T Have the Legs to Stick & Move for 12 Rounds, Anymore...So Pac Won't Necessarily HAVE to Be Balls to the Wall, 3 Minutes of Every Round... Like Duran, Pacquiao is a Cat that Simply Loooooooooooooooooves to Fight...The BIGGER the Fight, the BETTER...That PRIMAL Grin will Be Wide & Beaming, During his Ringwalk & He'll FORCE an Uptempo Fight... Floyd May EVADE Exchanges Early, but @ SOME Point, he's Going to Have to Plant and FIGHT...&/Or, he'll Look for the Ropes to Rest...The RE w/Maidana was VERY Telling, ie., Floyd Can't just Dial it Up on a Whim, Anymore... REED Honestly Thinks Ducking Pac for Soooooooooo Loooooooooooong Will Prove to Be Floyd's UNDOING... REED:hammert:
Yes... The Dela Fight was Tito's INTRO Into the Mainstream...He'd Never Even Been the B-Side of a PPV, Prior to that, if REED's Not Mistaken... Conversely, Pac & Floyd have BOTH Been Mainstream Entities for MORE than Half a Decade Now, Both Still VIABLE PPV Forces, Singularly...Collectively, they'll SHATTER PPV Records, GUARANfuckingTEED... w/Out Question, Pac and Floyd are THE 2 Biggest "Names" in Our Sport...That COULDN'T Be Said about Trinidad, During the Build Up to the Dela Fight...Tito was Known to BOXING Fans, but Not to Mainstream SPORTS Fans, just Yet... REED:nono:
Yes... Both Fighters have MORE in their Tanks than Tyson Did AND Both are Considerably More Popular/Notorious than Lennox EVER Was, on American Soil... Sadly, Lennox NEVER Registered on a Mainstream Level, w/American Audiences... REED:hammert:
Totally agree.. When Mike was in his prime Lemmon loser was nowhere to be found and just a total bum..once Lemmon beat a few bums and mike was washed up and on drugs..no one really cared about it anymore
Hard to say. Cotto and Mosley and Oscar are just two of the guys that Floyd ducked or otherwise avoided, or otherwise did not fight in their primes. Floyd did a lot of side-stepping on the way up. Today, Floyd is past his physical peak and his last two fights were against Marcos Maidana, a guy Amir Khan came close to stopping in 1 rounds. In terms of what Manny Steward referred to as "excitement"...Manny would generate a lot if he beat Floyd. But in terms of pure, unadulterated, all-time fistic significance, it would fall way short of accomplishments such as Henry Armstrong going all the way to 160 to get a draw with Ceferino Garcia.
America is the CAPITAL of the Boxing Woooooorld...Always HAS Been, Always WILL Be... Thankfully, Fighters like Hatton, Froch, Golovkin, Pacquiao & Countless Others DON'T Suffer from American Penis Envy like YOU Do... REED:hammert:
