Ah well. Encouraging for next year at least and thats generally all you can hope for from a new Celtic manager. Even O'Neil and Lennon pretty much busted their first year in Europe.

Spurs gone, Celtic gone, and Liverpool going to extra time on hostile territory. Only Everton safely through.

Yeah it is fair hard to come up with many more besides.................albeit the banks have given us endless material for high-end flicks featuring actors who have no clue abut finances.

The English football club funeral pyre. Another shocking indictment on the standard of the Premier League.

Don't fancy LFC if this goes the distance. Hope they get through, though.

Why does it take every cunt half a week to take a penalty nowadays? Like watching spastics slipping on a patch of oil every time they take a 'run up'.

The problem with trying to find the top corner with a penalty is when you get it wrong, you usually get it horribly wrong.

Always disappointed to see Liverpool go out of Europe. Proper club.

The bonfire of English club football continues, nonetheless.

Salutary lesson for Rodgers- you either take a game seriously or you don't. Now Liverpool have to return to England and face City on short notice in the early Sunday kick off, a game I would now give them almost no chance of winning. That was Liverpools last realistic shot at top 4 and Rodgers decided to have one ball in each fanny and his dick in neither.

Agreed but it did not have to be that way. Rodgers left Henderson and Coutinho at home, broke up his hitherto successful back three, sent Can into midfield where he has not played for months and played with two strikers to the detriment of his midfield.

Now he has lost out and has to come back to England with nothing to show for a disruptive midweek trip to the middle-east and City awaiting him on Sunday.

    Not smart.

You look at it now and you would say Everton could win it.

The English arrogance regarding the UEFA Cup is beyond baffling. Every other country treats the thing as a proper competition. English clubs spend all year trying to qualify for it then do everything they can to get knocked out ASAP. It's preposterous - it's the best chance of a CL place for Everton, LFC and Spurs this year and two of the three have basically sacked it off.

The thought of Everton in the Champions League next season despite having been truly atrocious all year in the league is hilarious, but a hilarity that could yet come true.

And as for who the fuck told Lovren to take a penalty...........

Everton could finish 15th this year and qualify for the CL next season. Martinez knows where his priorities lie.

What did I say? I said I wanted all these clubs to WIN.

Celtic, Spurs, and Liverpool, you really fucked this tournament up. Only Everton came through. They're up 7-2 on aggregate.

It looks like Arsenal are out and Man City are probably gone too in the CL. Engerland, WTF?

I agree. Get knocked out of the Europa League so you can concentrate and place higher in the league so you can qualify for... the Europa League. :scratcher:

In fairness......Besiktas were 1 goal loses to Arsenal over two legs with regard to getting into the CL. They beat Liverpool on penalties, 5-4, after a 1-1 aggregate draw. The question was not about Liverpool being not good enough per se, it was about baffling managerial decisions which undermined their chances.

They played well today. Liverpool beat them 8-0 back in the mid 00's. I think they set a record for a CL win. Arsenal had just beaten someone 7-0 a month earlier.

I wouldn't mind playing these cunts again if they get through. Biggest joke fans in Europe. A police escort?? Everton fans are pissing themselves laughing. There's about 150 of them and they're a choreographed pep squad. They forgot the pom poms. (And we beat them 4-1.)
