Amongst Jewish brothers, I MUCH MUCH prefer Steve Farhood to Bernstein. Farhood is 100x better. I really wish Showtime would promote Farhood to the main telecasts, and demote Bernstein's clueless ass to Showbox.
Agreed. Clueless is an apt description for that bozo, he literally has no fucking clue what he's talking about. It's not an exaggeration to say almost everyone on Fightbeat knows more about boxing than he does. Not even sure how that's possible, given covering boxing is his job ffs :: I was honestly mystified when he used to have a good reputation.
Yeah he's awful. To make matters worse the PPV broadcasts in Canada didn't have the HBO or Showtime team and we were forced to listen to "The Colonel". Luckily there are streams everywhere now so i don't even bother looking for boxing on TV anymore.
Sheridan is indeed brutal, but Mauro Ranallo? He simply doesn't fucking belong in boxing. His voice too UFC-ish.
Sheridan is not bad. Lampley is poo. Jones is a good colour commentator. Jones, Paulie, George and Lewis, in order of declining goodness. Ian Darke and Glen McCrory, very good. Ian Darke and Jim Watt, not so good. Adam Smith and Jim Watt, meh. New Sky Guy and Jim Watt....utter pish. John Rawling and Colin Jones....OK apart from Jones annoying Taff whine.
at Darke and McCrory being "very good". They are both biased tools, and McCrory in particular doesn't know his arse from his elbow when it comes to analysing boxing. He talks utter shit. The only somewhat tolerable one on Sky is that dork Adam Smith. He's still a biased tool, but seems to follow boxing more than the others, and sometimes know what he's talking about.
Why? What is remotely awesome about him? I find him pretty boring, and I don't think he knows much about boxing. More than Glen, sure, but not as much as even the likes of Buncey.
He could capture the atmosphere perfectly, and could read subtle momentum changes very well. I've always been a fan of Darke. Anyway, the greatest boxing commentator of all time is Steve Holdsworth from Eurosport, the guy seemed to hate every single boxer he watched ::
The Thing is, Renalo Probably Wouldn't Be Half Bad if Not for that MANUFACTURED Ass Voice of His...He's Well Spoken, RARELY Flubs a Line, PASSIONATE, yet Dude's Voice is Sooooo Fucking CONTRIVED, it's a Turnoff... It CHEAPENS the Occasion, in REED's Opinion... REED Can't Say he's EVER Heard Sheridan Do a LIVE Broadcast...He's the King of the REPLAYS, from REED's Experience...Tries to Make Himself Seem KNOWLEDGEABLE by Foreshadowing Events in Fights that have ALREADY Happened...ANYBODY Can Do That... REED Doesn't Get the Angst Al Bernstein Conjures from Some of Ya'll...Not Saying he's GREAT, but Dude is Faaaaaaaaaaaar from as BAD as Ya'll are Making him Out to Be... REED::
Agreed REED. If there's 2 things I really can't stand it's contrived-ness and cheesiness. He has both in abundance. I prefer people to be more real, natural, and laid back. Probably why I'm a big Merchant fan actually :kidcool:
Shit I forgot about Holdsworth, it's been years and years since I've watched Eurosport :: He is indeed fucking hilarious.
Cheapening the occasion is what cagefighting is all about, dudes... I'm about to break, it's ripping my ass to pieces
sheridan is an unapologetic don king shill but he doesnt try to hide that fact like limpley does for HBO. i like him as a one man booth on live broadcasts
Sheridan is very very good. I never understood why he was so despise by some on this site. Ranallo is one of the best mma announcers, but as some said, he lacks the classyness to be in boxing. Him with the ''big kabosh '' guy were so outrageously cheesy, that they were perfect for mma and k1 fights.
I don't think Sheridan can capture the atmosphere at all. He can either shout, or shout hard, those are his two gears, he is clumsy with his words and doesn't seem to know much. He would do much better by letting the action speak itself instead of rambling nonsense on it all the time
