Thurman beat Guerrero more comprehensively than Floyd did. Give him some credit. I dunno why Thurman is one of the most hated fighters on this forum.
And Khan beat Judah more comprehensively than Mayweather did. He gets no credit. If you think Thurman is one of the most hated fighters on this forum you have not ever read a thread involving Canelo or Khan.
Nice try on trash-Khan, but stupid argurment. Khan fought Judah 7 years after Floyd did. He beat a washed up Judah, whereas Zab was still in his physical prime against Floyd. Canelo is a good fighter. He gets waayyyyyy more hype than Thurman does though, but still, Canelo is a good fighter. Khan is garbage. Always has been and always will be. Thurman would destroy Khan, and I think even you know that.
I fell asleep during last nights fights. Utter dirge. Broner can't punch a lick and Thurman boxes by numbers.
I think the Crowd were fucked off with Broner, and Thurman sort of had to take the brunt of it. That said the lump on his head kept them interested. He should see a gynecologist about that.
Somwhere, in a Philly dosshouse, wearing the same pair of denim pants that he has for the past month, an old, decrepit-before-his-time Olympic Gold Medalist reads about Broner and laughs. And then weeps, at the injustice of it all. Different Class. Different Class.
My impression was that, if you put a vest on Guerrero, he would look like a world-class amateur. No power, cute, neat shots, physique of a wet towel.
Is not what I saw. http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/i...bert-guerrero-retain-welterweight-world-title
He doesn't have an amateur style at all, not even vaguely. He is a good, solid pro. Good infighting, crafty, good counterpunching etc.
I meant in terms of power and physicality. Looks like well schooled youngster, still to get his man-strength.
Yeah he does have that weedy, underdeveloped look. It's strange he had decent power at 135 actually. Morales was a puncher, but as skinny as he was, he looked kind of wiry and strong in his own, weird, emaciated way.
His style doesn't lend itself to power, and his need to not get KTFO last night didn't lend itself to power either, but I just don't see the guy as a banger. He landed plenty, crisp and clean, and yet Molina never seemed really bloodied or busted up. Aryan Bronerhood might have "power" in the sense of wailing on guys against the ropes with fast unanswered shots, but I don't see him having any heavy-handedness against guys as big as him who walk in.
Technique and mentality has a lot to do with it. Guerrero doesn't, at least in recent fights, seem to have the mentality of a banger. He's a cutey-poo. Morales on the other hand at least tried to bang and at 122, he had some power. Less so at 126.
He is a pretty extreme example of power dropping when moving up a division or two. His power looked alright at 135, but at 147 (and I guess 140 too) his shots look like nothing more than fast but puny armpunches, with absolutely nothing on them.
Bronerhood has smallish stick legs and a fat chest. I am not sure he has any power. In the 1940's he'd had 3 kos from 109 pro fights.
Actually his previous 2, I just checked. I had no idea he dropped to 140 after getting beaten down by Maidana, I don't really follow this cunt's career, or watch him fight :kidcool: The next time I watch him will be when he gets matched with someone good again, who'll likely thrash him.
:: haha see I can't even smart-ass properly... Actually I had the same problem, though I watched his fights. It's quite interesting you still get good odds on points victories for him. People stll think he's some kind of puncher.
Leonard was OVERSELLING the Product for Certain, Calling Broner a "Great" Fighter, Marveling @ Thurman's "Hand Speed" & "Athleticism"...The Program Might Be Better Served, Moving BJ Flores from Corner Commentary to Color Commentary... As BEAUTIFUL as She Looks, Laila Ali Pisses REED Off for MILKING her Father's Name, Building her Own Brand, DUCKING Ann Wolfe and Retiring...REED Doesn't Feel Laila DESERVES to Make Money Off of Boxing Any More, so Kindly Fuck Off & Do Something Else, Instead of Producing Non-Informative & Repetitive Corner Commentary.... & Yeah, Marv Albert has CLEARLY Lost Touch w/the Sport...He Seemed Equal Parts Confused & Disinterested... REED:mj:
Not a Bad Start to Premier Boxing Champions, Overall.... REED REALLY Liked the Show Opening Intro, Showcasing the Fighters Suited Up (Ditto for the Tale of the Tape Photos)...Nice Touch...Different Story Altogether w/the Fighter Ringwalks Though...The STAGE they Entered From was Cool, but Let them Select their OWN Music...Edit Out Cusswords if Need Be, but Let them Enter to their OWN Shit... As McDogg Pointed Out, Marv Albert WASN'T Up for the Task...He SOUNDED like a Guy who Hadn't Watched a Boxing Match in 30 Years, which was Likely the Case...Give REED the MANUFACTURED Cheese of Mauro Renalo OVER the Disinterest of Albert...If NATHAN Else, Viewers WON'T Fall Asleep During Boring Bouts, w/Renalo Commentating... On Paper, Both Fights were Good Matchups...The Opening Bout was a Dud, but that was ALL Because of Molina...Broner was a Perpetually Flat Footed, IN the Pocket & HITTABLE as Ever, Molina just Failed to Hold Up HIS End of the Bargain... The 2nd Bout was MUCH Better & Keith Thurman is the Type of Fighter MADE to Throw Hands on Non-Subscription Network Television...He WANTED to Put Hurt on Guerrero & DID that for the Majority of the Bout...Overcame an Ugly Hematoma, Dropped Guerrero HARD, then Petered Out & had to Weather Adversity in the Last 2-3 Rounds to Preserve his UD... Thurman's LOOK is Unique and his STYLE is Fan Friendly...In just 1 Bout, he's Probably DOUBLED his Marketability (ESPN Showed Highlights of his Fight for the 1st Time EVER) & We'll Definitely See MORE of him on NBC...Speaking of Which, w/19 MORE Dates to Fill this Year, there's Plenty of time to Tweak this Product Into Something Special... REED Would Grade the 1st Episode as a Solid "B" or "B-"...Mostly Positive, w/Some Things to Work On... REED
You've had a man-crush on David Haye Jr. since he was trashing bums and flexing and winking at the camera. That's all it took to win himself a little fan here. Now it looks like that superhuman punching power isn't going to translate in any fight that isn't some handpicked has been, and you're wondering why other people are talking smack about your pin up boy. Saying someone is going to get smashed 1,000 times doesn't necessarily mean that it will come true. You should know that from your little Deontay Wilder rants. Not everybody here views the sport of boxing like they're thumbing through an issue Teen Beat magazine.
He wasn't gunshy. He was as useless in the 1st as he was in the 12th. Its not like Molina went all out, got tagged, and stepped back. He could not let his hands go and was as discouraged by the lack of a target as he was by any of the incoming. He was shot and discouraged.
Lack of a Target???... Broner's NEVER Been Renown for his Wheels or Maneuverability...He's a POCKET Fighter, Which is Where he Spent the Bulk of his Ring Time w/Molina... This was the SAME Broner that Stood in Front of Madaina & Got Immasculated...On Paper, Molina was Supposed to TEST Broner in Similar Ways Maidana Did, but Molina Clearly WASN'T Up for the Challenge... Not Saying Broner's a PUNCHER @ '40, but SOMETHING about him Made Molina Gunshy...If Not the Punches Hitting Him in the Face All Night, then What???... REED:mj:
I haven't seen the fight, so I can't say for sure, but this isn't necessarily true at all. People like Rocky Juarez would just not let their hands go against anyone, nothing to do with their opponent's power. And from what people have said about this fight, it sounds like Molina just didn't show up, and didn't even try, rather than being weary of Broner's non existent power.
That's just It, Juarez was ALWAYS Reluctant to Let his Hands Go....Didn't Matter WHO he was Facing... Look, REED Ain't here to Praise Broner Over a Decent Performance...But when Wondering WHY a Fighter like Molina was Gunshy, REED Thinks it's Only Fair to Give SOME Credit to the Guy that Punched him in the Face for 12 Full Rounds... There's ZERO Rewatchability to the Fight, so Don't Waste your Time...But Duly Note it was Boring Because of Molina, NOT Broner... REED:mj:
