Good win for Everton. We needed things to turn around. We started the weekend 14th in the table. 12, 13 and 17 won. 15 drew and 16 got annihilated at home. We don't move up any slots but a loss would have been disastrous. Hopefully we turn the season around and finish 10th or 11th.

We just needed a league win badly. Coming after that Europa League victory. Now hopefully they can build on this.

I honestly wouldn't get too excited by the win today mate. Newcastle are absolutely fucking rank. I'd back almost anyone to roll them over.

David Villa just scored a gorgeous goal for the first home goal by NYC FC... They are playing in Yankee stadium and the pitch is both narrower and shorter than a typical pitch because of the park dimensions ... Lot of transition play... Pretty good crowd on hand... I'd guess 35-40,000

Villa has entertained royally today, lovely pass to set up another goal by a boy with the decidedly handsome name Patrick Mullins... This has been fun... It's solid football, not top class, but of a decent quality and the crowd is into it

League game against "New England Revolution", one of the MLS teams that still insists on the kind of super queer naming styles that originated in the 1990s (like "Hounslow Fog" or something queer like that) ... The smart teams, recognizing tradition, have rebranded over the years to "Sporting Kansas City", "DC United", "FC Dallas" type of names or the traditional plural baseball model like Portland Timbers)

I think some of the more traditional names are good but others went too far. Real Salt Lake?

Probably wouldn't help them get many fans outside Utah but at least it would be more appropriate.

Laughably they also have the Jazz in basketball when they neglected to change the name since moving from New Orleans. Similar to the Lakers from Minneapolis. If a team's name is created specifically for local cultural or geographic reasons it certainly should be changed if the franchise is moved.

Not that sporting directors should ever get involved with such things but the fact it was targeted directly at Anjem Choudary makes it perfectly OK in my book. That guy is a total piece of shit.

That is why I cannot understand his decision to quit. Must be worried about offending Rangers Muslim fans. Both of them.

I doubt he quit completely on his own accord. There would have been both internal and external pressures he probably just didn't want to bother dealing with.

If he dug his heels in he could have gotten good press for Ranges out of it.

With the American and his crew buying Palace, only seven teams in the Prem are English owned now.

The four co-owners that are selling the club are supposedly all lifelong Palace fans.
