And also, considering that half the poster in here are british, and that a quarter of the other half are so bitter about their current life, that they idealise the past, it doesnt mean much. But still, i must admit that it does baffles me. One is an european level fighter, the other is a world class fighter. Silvio branco is about the same caliber of fighter that eubank fought throught his career. Eubanks struggled whith this kind of opposition constantly, and robbed quite a few, while pascal destroyed him. It seems that people only rebember Eubank first fight against benn (a green benn who didnt knew yet how to paced himself, and who faded badly down the stretch, i must add) and completely forget about the rest of his career ( which, to their defense, is completely forgettable). Eubank had flash of brilliance, where he makes you think that he might be a quite special fighter, yet, he was unable to sustain it, even against very weak opposition. Its sad to admit, but pascal would be more well regarded in here if he never challenged himself, and only fought weak opposition, like eubank did. Same thing happens with hatton. Most consider him inferior to jc, but when he was fighting calzaghe level of opposition, he looked better and won easier than calzaghe did. Yet, he gets punish in the ranking cause he challenged himself and lost to the very best.

 

I voted Pascal, just for the hell of it.

The other people on the thread agreed that Eubank is overrated, but none of them actually agreed that Pascal is better.

You're literally insane if you think Eubank is a European level fighter. Admittedly, his resumé is patchy and doesn't live up to his talent level, but at his best he was an excellent, world class fighter, clearly better than Pascal.

I guess Chris is a bit like Judah in that regard, highly talented but a bit of an underachiever. Though Chris is of course better and tougher. Calzaghe is in that category too, despite being undefeated, his resumé doesn't really reflect his ability. He also has just 2 notable wins, Kessler and Hopkins.

Eubank was indeed a lot like Zab, in the sense that some nights he was on fire, & some nights he just didn't show up. If you think Eubank at his best would be troubled by Amaral, you probably think Dave Tiberi was a better fighter than James Toney.

 

Elite fighter dont struggle and/or rob fighters like close (2x), rocchigianni, malinga, schommer, thornton , sherry and amaral (never saw the last 2 fights but heard they were terrible robbery, especially the amaral one)
These guys are either at about the same level than silvio blanco or a lot worse, and we saw how pascal destroyed him without any problems

None of these guys would be competitive with pascal, except probably malinga

I actually love the guy, cause of his weird charisma, but the reality doesnt even come close to match the hype he gets. These bad performances are not flukes, he badly struggled or needed a gift against every semi decent (if even that)fighter he fought. The lone exception being the first benn fight, which is, considering how the rematch went and the rest of his career, pretty much a fluke. The only reasons hes so highly rated are his charisma and popularity.

Hell, with different judges, he could have had five consecutive losses (benn, close x2, amaral, malinga and rocchigianni). Im not saying he deserved to lost all these fights, but they were all close disputed decisions, and they wouldnt have been much outcry if he lost them all. He's not much more than an euro level fighter, and hes insanely overrated. As much as i hate calzaghe, he clearly was a better fighter than eubank, and so is jean pascal, who for all his flaws, only lost and/or struggled against the truly elite (minus a few times when he was still green), and always gave a good account of himself.

No doubt, everytime I have the misfortune to read one of his posts, it's alway's some pathetic e-war with another poster (usualy Irish or Boss who are at least funny).
