Maybe it wasn't fixed in the sense that Arum directly bribed a judge or two, but maybe someone knew that certain judges utterly despises the Filipino and was a Bradley fan too and then knowingly appointed them for this bout?

Precisely. I can sort of understand Steve's position, but I guess it's all so underhand and implicit, there's nothing TO leak.

Nothing was more corrupt than Eugenia Williams in Lewis vs Holyfield I who scored it for Holyfield 115-113.
She even scored Lewis' best round for Holyfield (round 5 I think it was where he was pummelling the sh*t out of Holyfield.
They did an investigation after the travesty and found nothing. All they got out of it was incompetent judging. And Eugenia Williams' excuse was "I only scored the rounds that I could actually see." She claimed her view was blocked and she couldn't see the boxers clearly even though footage shows that her view of the fight was perfectly clear.
She was bribed or threatened. That other judge Larry O Connell scored it a draw.

Are you talking about someone dropping a tell all?

I think it's unlikely to happen because if a person is either bribed with money or threatened with death, it be hooves them to stay quiet.

Sounds like Steve is saying that since there is no secret surveillance video of a briefcase of money changing hands, that there can't possibly have been any corruption. That seems naive.

Yeah, on the one hand Big Steve is saying he acknowledges corruption must exist in boxing, it's just Pacquiao - Bradley in particular he disagrees with.

But on the other hand, he's saying "How can there be no evidence?" as if he's dismissing the idea of corruption existing at all :dunno:

I think Andrew made his point pretty clear. The judges that took the bribes dont have to leak, but a good example is, what about those that didnt take th bribes. Someone, somewhere would have came out with some info on being approached by Arum by now. Especially considering all the fights fan claimed are fixed.

By now??? Tyrone Everett was robbed 39 years ago ... Lockridge was robbed 30 years ago... Whitaker was robbed 27 years ago ... No one has "come forward" with anything on these blatant robberies but the lack of same in the comparatively minuscule amount of time since Bradley/Pac is telling to you guys???

Again, you dont seem to be understanding the point Andrew is making. He isn't saying their isn't corruption. He is saying that people who were approached or didnt take the bribes or something should have leaked if this is such a widespread problem in the Arum Camp.

Right. I mean, if Top Rank fixed a relatively minor event like Pacquiao/Bradley in order to sell a rematch, you'd assume they're regularly involved in fixing fights.

If Top Rank has been fixing fights for several years or even decades, I'm saying it's peculiar we've never heard any credible allegations. It's a good run, especially for a sport that's otherwise so disorganized and poorly run.

Precisely. 1 or 2 fights, okay you could get lucky. A long history of fight fixing and nobody comes forward? that is some serious luck. Especially with the amount enemies Arum has out there. People would pay some big bucks for that kind of info.

And say Bradley/Pacquiao was fixed (a possibility I'm not dismissing outright), I'd definitely like to know how it was done.

Fightbeat is notorious for thinking something is always afoot. I was attacked because i didnt go along with the mob in saying Bayless was paid off by Floyd because he had one bad night. Im with you. I think there is corruption. But not as widespread as one would think. And if it was, no way one person can keep that quiet for so long. SOMEBODY would have came forward like with what happened to King.

its gonna be interesting may 2. i imagine roach wont allow for bayless, and mayweather jr wont allow for weeks. that doesnt exactly leave the cream of the crop as far as vegas refs (nady, draculich, etc). i suspect either robert byrd gets this gig, or they look outside the state.

Yeah I agree with all this. Officials in all sports are mostly incompetent. It's a mix.

I always liked Raul Caiz, Sr, but i think he is judging full time now.

Bayless or Weeks are fine with me. Byrd seems solid enough.
