"He just went 11 rounds with Murray. No disrespect to Murray, but he wouldn't last more than 2 or 3 rounds with the Cobra." Froch's official reasoning for not wanting GGG. Why not Kov, Mr. Froch? Is Kov a small kid as well?
I'd like to see it. GGG needs to move to 168 IMO and forget Cotto who is a small guy at 160. Kovalev is just too strong and powerful for Froch, on the other hand. Can't see Froch surviving that for more than 6 rounds, honestly. Wouldn't be shocked if Froch has a retirement fight with Hopkins.
I'm pretty confident that GGG would beat Froch down. What Froch DIDN'T mention is that after awhile Murray went into survival mode against Golov, which is the only reason he lasted 11. Golov would steadily break Froch to the body. But yeah, at least it's a fight that would be competitive for awhile. Kov would beat Froch just as easily as he did Cleverly.
Golovkin looks like a 160 lber. He should stay where he's at. The ability to weight hop without taking a hit on performance is strongly correlated with PEDs in my estimation. I like to believe GGG wouldn't go there.
I don't know about the PED's part as a blanket statement, though it can certainly be a correlation, but I agree that Golovkin is a prototypical Middleweight, similar to Marvin Hagler. That's his sweet spot and I can't really see him moving up or down comfortably. If Froch hasn't gotten old overnight, he certainly would not be a pushover for GGG. I haven't been keeping up with most things boxing lately. Has GGG made overtures that he WANTS to fight Froch?
He was asked about GGG before and he said his advice re GGG was to avoid him. Now GGG is a "Small Kid"
Maybe it's a verbal dig at GGG's grasp of the English language. Doesn't he call everybody he fights "boy"? As I say this, why the fuck don't GGG and Kovalov make use of their translators? Why do we expect them to struggle through their English lessons with Lampley and Kellerman sticking mikes in their mugs right after a fight.
