You need dynamism and relentlessness to beat SRR at any weight. I don't see Bazpalooka as having any of that. He's too staid, too mechanical. Good fighter, stiff jab, but if ODLH can drop him twice- the second time for real- and nearly finish him.........then I think Ray stops him ootright, especially at 154. A lot of Quarteys problems at 154 were that he was never in shape, but he still lost to Vargas, a very good fighter at 154 pre Plastergate, but Vargas was just not as a good as Robinson. Ray beats him, period.
Quartey is a strong welterweight no doubt. His jab was stiff, and he did block a lot of punches with that high guard of his, he had a mean right hand too. But I think his chin is not the greatest. And he's open to left hooks. And we all know how fast and how hard Robinson could punch with either hand, plus his sliding movement to get into position to throw. Quartey is competitive early I'd say, but he'd have so many problems with that hand speed and the power is just too much. Ray hurts him and takes him out when he does. Robinson KO 6
A man with a weakness for left hooks vs a man with one of the best left hooks in history. Hmmmmm........ I wonder what happens......
Oscar was a chickenshit faggot and he still had Quartey down and on queer street. Fucking Oscar had HBO eating out of his ass crack all night {Foreman with his "Oscar is a brave man" bullshit} If Oscar was in the lead coming into the 12th he NEVER would have thrown those shots. Chickenshit faggot still fell short with half his shit...and as for his flailing ill-husbanded flurries in the 12th with Lampley bollocking on in the background about "Leonard Hearns"....fucking hated that fight and was sick Oscar won. One of the few Oscar fights I ever saw live. Oscar was tight as hell in the opening round but it was his right that impressed me.....you get a guy like Robinson who was a better fighter, a better two-handed fighter....he wouldn't come in the ring looking like the best part of last nights roast had just run down his leg... Ray in 9 rounds.
I think Robinson would dispatch of Ike in less than 9. I think Leonard would dispatch of Ike in about 9.
Wait, if we are talking about Ike vs SMOKEY Robinson, I'd go with Ike. If we are taking about trike turner vs smokey Robison I'd still go with Ike. He would make smokey see the tracks of his own tears while asking "you tryin to help IKE?????"
Robinson gets Ike out of there in about 10 at 147 and less than that at 154 ... Once he figures out a way around Ike's great jab and starts finding him with the hook, it's his
