Steve Bunce making a good point.....if Al Haymon was as interfering as people say he is, why did Lee leave town with a draw :dunno:

    Errol Spence is impressive.

Good technique, timing, accuracy, uses the angles. Goes to the body well too and picks off shots with his guard well.

Needs a step up in competition, though.

I know Cdogg doesn't think much of him, but Thurman would stop Garcia

Salido down twice. Rocky might break the streak.

Garcia is in a bad place now.

Perhaps unintentionally, he is living off the vapours of the Khan fight.

He has done so little since, and what little he has done looks even worse when you look at who he did it against and how.

The Matthysse fight I give him, good win.

    But not much more besides.

He is in a bad place now. A trip to 147 and likely beatings.

I used to favor Garcia. But he hasn't corrected some of his flaws AT ALL.

Still leaves himself too wide open when throwing shots. He also INEXPLICABLY faded late tonight. Against Thurman, that's bad news.

I think Kell Brook outboxes Garcia too.

He always was. His lack of discipline played a role in his quick decline, along with his bad chin.

Garcia is weird. When you expect him to lose big (Khan, Matthysse) he shines. When you expect him to dominate (Peterson, Judah, Herrera) he struggles.

So who knows? But yeah, there figures to be a few guys he loses to at 147. Floyd, Pac, Thurman, and Brook being the most obvious.

He should fight Broner at a catchweight. That's a winnable fight for him.

Yup. Martinez won a unanimous decision and takes Salido's belt.

Garcia's best talent is his timed hook and his finishing.

But if he doesn't land the hook, his two best talents go out the window.

I think he can beat anyone he can hurt, but he is so lacking in variety that it hurts him more often than not.

If the extra 7 lbs doesn't help him, he's fucked.

Brook would have stopped him tonight.

Two champions at 140 fight at 143. :hair:

Last time Peterson lost it was also above weight and not for his title. (To Matthysse.)

I stand corrected, but I never checked the weights........I should have suspected it was not at 140, nothing ever is at its proper weights these days as Caligula alludes to.

You know when I knew boxing was fucked?

When the WBA batamweight champ (Bones Adams) fought the WBA super bantamweight champ (Paulie Ayala) and instead of treating the fight as a special match between two champs, the WBA stripped both of their belts for not fighting their mandatories.

That was a cracking good fight if I recall. Didn't Bones Adams go on to be a Breaking Bad sort of dude in the end??,

I remember asking Clarence Adams why he didn't do as well in the rematch vs Ayala and he said "cuz I didn't try"

Garcia is confusing to gauge. He's very basic meaning he does everything good but not great. I was never sold on him and probably never will be. One major flaw that is standing out with Garcia is that he has gassed out late recently. This can and will be a major issue that has to be resolved now. Like mentioned if the jump to 147 does not help he's done. I would love to see him fight Brandon Rios @147. That would be a REAL test for him.

He's not "very basic" at all, he's just kind of slow and a bit scrubby looking at times.

Agreed. He is probably one of those odd fighters that fights to the level of competition, who knows.

One thing is for sure, he's been a big fucking let down since his very impressive win over Lucas.

Lucas absolutely thrashed Peterdude, and Garcia beat Lucas more convincingly than he did Peterdude.

Garcia still beats Brook though. Brook just beat some Romanian scrub and suddenly everyone is really high on him?

Not because of that one performance.

But Garcia is just really sloppy at times. The way he leaves himself open, I could see Brook leveling him with one of those well timed straight right hands and he has enough power to do damage. Plus the way Danny has been fading late inexplicably in some fights is alarming, I feel. Especially considering that Garcia was dominating early and Peterson wasn't applying pressure nor was he punching that hard. To me, that's not good. And it could get him in big trouble as a welterweight.

Maybe Garcia does indeed fight to his opponents level. But he looked really bad in some recent fights, and it suggest he'd have his issues against the top guys there.

I think that's a pick-em... I'd be surprised if Thurman stopped him... Id favor him over Brook
