Clips blew game two. Why? Cuz the great griffin bobbled the ball away while some skinny Italian was guarding him in the final 30 seconds. A basket would've iced that game. It's a shame paul isn't playing in a weak ass eastern conference like Iverson went through to get to the finals
Paul has done nothing to even suggest he could get out a weak East. Put him on that 01 Philly team and they probably don't get past Tor or Mil. Iverson got past those two teams with VC playing outta his mind for the Raptors, and Ray Allen playing outta his mind for the Bucks.
Paul wouldn't do well on that philly team geared toward Iverson taking 30 to 40 shots a night. That is true
Iverson couldve had his philly team or put him with these bums on the clippers and he aint gettin past san antonio. Basically Chris Paul is stuck with two bench players in the starting five, and a horrible bench. Jamal Crawford is a great scorer off the bench, but other than him the clippers got a bunch of worthless shitbags
Iverson hasn't been romanticized in 10 years. He's one of the most disliked NBA players of all time. If you talk to some Iverson haters, they'd have you believing that he was no better than Monta Ellis. Paul is one of the most liked NBA players of all time, and ALWAYS seem to be above criticism. What's funny about Paul is this - whenever he performs great, his groupies put in the same class as guys like Kobe, Wade, KD, ect. Whenever he chokes - his groupies say "It's his teammates. Plus, you can't expect a 6-foot guy to shoulder a load that big." There's ALWAYS some excuse for Paul. ALLL FUCKIN WAYS. Blame it on Doc. Blame it on Griffin. Blame it on Jordan. But Paul? Nahhhhh. He's infallible. GTFOH! Paul was signed to bring the Clips a ring. Period! And not only hasn't he gotten him them there, they haven't come remotely close to even WINNING THE WEST. Paul groupie response "But......but........ but the West is so deep!" It is. But if Paul were half as good as his fan boys thought, his impact would be great enough to get them deep. But he doesn't. So his fans need to start admitting that for all his impressive stats, Paul is just not impactful enough to get a team deep in the playoffs. Not as "the man" anyway. He could help NO make a strong push to the title, as the SIDEKICK to Davis.
I wouldn't have a problem with Paul if the media didn't hype him as a first-rate superstar. He's not Kobe, Lebron, Wade, guys that carry your team to a ring as the first option. He's a great floor general who needs to be the 2nd, or 3rd option on offense in order to win it all. Curry AND Westbrook this year were both better than ANY version that ever existed of CP3, and I know that makes his fan boys sick.
ANYTHING positive that's said about Iverson is considered romanticizing him nowadays. His haters want you to believe that AI was in the same league as Kemba Walker. It's also blasphemy to criticize Chris Paul.
Rondo - now that's a HIGHER level of overrating right there! I won't be THAT harsh to CP3, because Rondo is nothing more than the product of being carried by three HOFmers. His bum ass has been exposed since. Rondo couldn't carry CP3's jock. Melo is a good example of a guy who's labeled a loser, when in reality, he's had more PO success than Paul. But Paul is perfect..............
Speaking of which, Melo and CP3 coulda made for a pretty deadly duo. Melo's never had a pure PG as good as Paul, and when Melo's healthy he's plain and simple a higher caliber player than Fake Griffin.
Iverson gets underrated because of his selfishness and I guess controversial OFF COURT personality. The whole "practice" press conference, the legal troubles, the "thug" image, feud with Larry Brown, etc. etc. etc. CP3 plays the game the way a point guard SHOULD, and because he's media darling and a seemingly all around good guy, his faults and choke jobs are always swept under the rug and the blame is pointed to his teammates instead. Make no mistake, Blake Griffin had a costly turnover in game 2. But in game 3, CP3 once again showed that AWAY from home, he's no superstar. Costly turnovers, poor shooting, seems to crack under pressure. Tony Parker for the past 2-3 seasons has been breaking down because of injuries. But I would still take a PRIME Tony Parker over CP3 any day. Parker's performance in 2007 when San Antonio beat Cleveland for the championship could never be replicated by CP.
not sure where this stance comes from, but pAUL got all the blame last year for the clippers loss to memphis. the clippers simply dont have a team good enough to compete with these others teams in the west. Paul is better than westbrook, period. westbrook and iverson are very similar so it doesnt surprise me that xplosive mentioned him. same type of players. if you put Chris Paul on the spurs in place of parker he certainly has rings.
Paul was better than WB every single season of Westy's career........ til this one. Perhaps an anomaly season for WB. He might never reach such a level again. But for this one season, he played on a higher level than I ever saw from CP3. As for Paul vs Parker comparison - Chris Paul is a better player than Tony Parker. But offensively, Parker has always been tougher to stop as a scorer, and in the big moments he shy's away less than Paul from taking over. Paul WOULD have rings if you put him on the Spurs though, but then again, there's A LOT of elite PG's in history who win rings playing alongside Timmy.
If durant left and westbrook was stuck with the same cast he had last year I see no reason he couldn't do the same things he did last season for as long as his athleticism remains. He would put up the same huge ineff7numbers and miss the playoffs if you let him just get the rock and attack the rim every single play
Do you think Iverson at the time he was a Sixer would have been able to buy into the team ball philosophy that the Spurs have?? I would like to think he COULD have, being that a coach like Pop gets the best out of his players. But Pop has never had to manage the PERSONALITY of an AI and sometimes that does affect team chemistry.
popovich would never have acquired iverson. if he somehow ended up on the team they wouldve dealt him. bad fit
Ive missed most of the playoff because of power outages here, but caught the Spurs Clippers game yesterday. Leonards game yesterday was something special. Not only did he do the business defensively on Chris Paul and whoever he was put on, but 32 points on 13/18 shooting as well. <iframe src='http://streamable.com/e/09hv' width='360' height='202' frameborder='0' allowfullscreen webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen scrolling='no'></iframe>
Carlisle fined 25k for criticizing refs. His complaint was Dwight being too physical. Really? It's the playoffs. Apparently he wants D12 to play like Dirk. I thought he was a good coach, lost a little respect there. *side note- No mention of Harden going to the FT line too much. Hmm.
Now hold on there homie, Rondo may have regressed badly but you can't criticize his past because of how bad his present is. You might want to go back and rewatch that title they won because Rondo was probably the best all around player on that Celtics team and definitely earned his ring. It was not a product of getting carried by 3 hall of famers.
The Mavs Put Up NOfuckingRESISTANCE...Refs Rarely Call Fouls when the Other Team BARELY Puts Up an Effort, Defensively... REED:mj:
The Mavs Cashed In ALL Their Chips on the Rondo Deal, Which Obviously Backfired...Now, Instead of Potentially Being a TRUE Championship Contender, they're a LOWER Level, Non Threatening Playoff Team... They May Not Even Be THAT, This Time Next Year... REED Didn't Like Carlisle's Micro-Management of Rondo, but Still, You DON'T Quit on your Team...This "Back Injury" that Rondo and the Mavs have Concocted, is Fucking SHAMEFUL...For Better or Worse, FINISH the Fucking Season...Go Down SWINGING... Rondo WILL Get Another Big Contract, but he's Lost a LOT of Respect & his New Team Better Be Mindful of his FLAKY Ass... REED:boohoo:
In Hindsight, Rondo Clearly WASN'T Good for Monta Ellis, Either...It's Been AWHILE Since Monta Played as Good as he Did in Game 3.... REED:mj:
The Mavs' problem wasn't their offense, which was an elite one. It was their defense, and they thought Rondo would come in and change the culture. The thing is, he's great in a slow paced, half court offense, not a run and gun/perimeter shooting one like the Mavs used this season. Rondo could still be an effective PG in some particular systems, but his attitude and lack of shooting were highlighted so much this season that he might not get his chance again.
