The point is, you can pick any era in any division and find fault with it. Boxing fans specialize in this shit. Without WK there would have been NO continuity at all, we would most likely have had a totally fractured title and a return to the "good old days". Its the rare klitschko fight where somebody doesn't get KTFO...yet peeps want to keep complaining, and do so with ZERO appreciation of how these other guys come into these fights HELL BENT on ducking and diving and making it as spoiler-ish as possible.
Even a chess game is more action packed than a Wlad fight. Ridiculous how a dude that big and strong fights like he's scared to get hit. Embarrasing.
defeating a past his prime Jones or "shot" Roy Jones and we can argue over the difference is still a good win....its not like calzaghe was a young fighter in his prime either at age 36
irish...who the F are you trying to kid? people have been complaining for YEARS that the heavyweight division had been declining for years....after the Holyfield vs Bowe fights it was a wasteland with just moments of individual storylines like..Tyson Getting out of jail, Foreman on the comeback, Holyfield turning back the clock again.......I will say this...i think Vitali Klit is a superior fighter to his brother and would have been a formidable heavyweight at any era
Haven't had time to read through this thread but from the little I've read I'm guessing that Wlad's getting teh usual fightbeat hate. The dude has boring fights...exceedingly boring fights actually. I understand the hate. But....he's on an 11 year win streak with something like 18 consecutiive defenses of his Title, only lost 3 times in 64 fights. That be some good statistics by any measure. Also he knocks out more opponents than not...has over 80% KO ratio. Nothing to sniff at. He's been dominant and that counts for something. Like I said before....a fighter doesn't have to be excitig to be great. Wlad has serious talent.....fast hands, power in both hands, accurate...plus size and strength. His chinny chin chin is always a question mark but hey...he hasn't been KO'd in 11 years and in that time he's fought some punchers. Give the guy a little credit, por favor.
You just wrote a fairly lengthy post on the pros and cons of Wlad as a fighter, but made zero mention of his excessive clinching?
The best 4 heavyweights ever are Lennox, Wlad, Vitali, and Bowe in whatever order. Tyson might match up with Wlad and Bowe, but he would have lost more often to others not mentioned. These guys are not losing more often than not to anyone else.
Based on WHAT Exactly???... If it's SIZE, Ali, Foreman, Holmes and Liston All have to Be Factored In...1 is THE Most Athletic Heavyweight to have EVER Laced 'em Up, the Other 2 are Amongst THE Best Punchers in Heavyweight History & Holmes Possessed 1 of the Best Jabs in BOXING History, Regardless of Division... REED:mj:
holyfield is among the best heavyweights ever. if not top 5 then easily top 10. and pound for pound he trumps these superfluous heavyweight
People have selective memories....some of Ali's later work was awful. He also held Frazier behind the head all the time, I lost track of how often he did it in the Frazier fights. People pick and choose what they want. Its human nature. For all of his boredom, an awful lot of guys have failed to hear the final bell. For all of his KO's......an awful lot of his fights have been too safety-first. Its a question of balance.
<iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ctKAGKVpCUU?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> So called Fight of the Century. Watch Ali when Frazier gets inside....he holds behind the head, tries to push down on Frazier, tries to clinch. The only reason he wasn't better at it is that Frazier is too strong for him.

Thats early-doors. He's already been warned once. He kept it up all fight, leaning down on Fraziers neck, backhanding him, clinching, holding behind the head. He never had a point taken off.
No, not a real tubechop user, ask Hut, he's done a few. I wish they were longer, like 3 minutes, I might be able to get a full Ali round in.
I wish Wlad wouldn't lean on guys, but if he does lean, he leans with World Class Style like this. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://swf.tubechop.com/tubechop.swf?vurl=ctKAGKVpCUU&start=1805&end=1983&cid=5791333"></param><embed src="http://swf.tubechop.com/tubechop.swf?vurl=ctKAGKVpCUU&start=1805&end=1983&cid=5791333" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://swf.tubechop.com/tubechop.swf?vurl=rKJCzJ3N6ro&start=405&end=543&cid=5791382"></param><embed src="http://swf.tubechop.com/tubechop.swf?vurl=rKJCzJ3N6ro&start=405&end=543&cid=5791382" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Wepner {the totally awesome Wepner} finally got so sick of this shit that he started hitting behind the head. And peoples excuse when Peter resorted to it vs Wlad....that Wlad was holding. Fuck right off up that street.
:: Its identical to WK vs Jennings....Jennings, who was twice as fast as Wepner, gets inside, bangs the body, Wlad holds. Same as the Wepner fight. Like I said, people have forgotten.
Case in point...where Ali can keep the distance, and jab, he does. The minute he gets closed down, clinches, pulls the mans head down {he would lean on them where he was taller}, throws rabbits shots, pushes with the forearms and gloves, or straight-arms guys. For a man with twice the talent of Wlad, this is acceptable ?? <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://swf.tubechop.com/tubechop.swf?vurl=rKJCzJ3N6ro&start=788&end=884&cid=5791425"></param><embed src="http://swf.tubechop.com/tubechop.swf?vurl=rKJCzJ3N6ro&start=788&end=884&cid=5791425" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
And I am just picking random parts of random Ali fights. Name an Ali fight, especially post-ban, and its evident. The only fights he doesn't do it is where the other guy is taller and strong enough to push him off. None of this is an attack on Ali, he is the greatest ever, at HW and possibly any weight. But he broke the same laws, and did so repeatedly.
Here, he spends an entire round hell-bent on doing NOTHING OTHER than pulling Fosters head down , sometimes with one hand, othertimes with both hands and forearms. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://swf.tubechop.com/tubechop.swf?vurl=Tm1Gqs-syrc&start=302&end=431&cid=5791467"></param><embed src="http://swf.tubechop.com/tubechop.swf?vurl=Tm1Gqs-syrc&start=302&end=431&cid=5791467" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> I think thats the opening round of Ali vs Foster. You can compare and contrast that to the opening round of Quarry vs Foster
