Most likely scenario, but I will be praying for Manny to KO that arrogant asshole. But if it goes the distance and is a little close, it will be declared a draw, albeit a controversial one.

Floyd wouldn't be in this position if he wasn't confident. I think he'll be more switched on for Manny than any other fight he's ever been in. He's taking him VERY seriously. Floyd's human after all and I'm sure he's feeling nervous and worried too, even if he never admits it. I think there's more pressure on him to win than Manny but I'm expecting the best Floyd to show up on the night.

 I must sound like a Floyd nut hugger but I'm not, my gut feeling is Floyd's got more left in the tank for one last great performance. That's just my gut feeling.

This fight could very well play out like a chess match for 12 rounds, I could see that happening, but I think both fighters are so focused to go out and win it'll make for an exciting fight with lots of oooooh's and ahhhh's

Floyd is definitely taking Manny very seriously indeed. He knows he has to be on top of his game for this one. I suspect that we'll see the best Floyd we've seen for quite a few years.

Floyd takes everyone seriously, and always trains hard and is focused etc. I think that's a big part of why he's still undefeated.

The fact that Floyd was the one who personally approached Pacquiao to make this fight happen, tells me that he is confident enough that Pacquiao is way past his prime that he can defeat him now, unlike 5 years ago. Of the two I sensed more confidence in Floyd than in Manny, who seemed a little nervous when they were face to face. I still will be rooting for Manny, but will be shaking and trembling (nerves) while watching the fight. I'll need something to calm me down prior the main event. [IMG]

Exactly the same for me. I've never been a big gambler, but even small bets are surprisingly nerve wracking for some reason :kidcool:

Max Kellerman could be asked to comment on the Marianas Trench and would sneak in a comparison to Roy Jones somewhere along the line.

The closer we get to fight time, the more sure I am that Floyd wins. It will simply be a case of Manny not being able to do anything with a man who is taller, just as smart, is innately defensive yet has the offense and the style to keep Pac honest. As the fight wears on, Pac will wear down and settle for losing, Floyd will settle for winning, they will collect their money, each man perfectly satisfied with his evening efforts. Very little thought seems to have been given to Floyds long arms and elbows. Manny will have to go around him cos he ain't going through him. And in going around, he will lose speed and power. If Algieri could keep this guy out for long periods, then so can Floyd, the difference being Floyd will be generating offense and doing his own damage in the interim.

Algieri did no such thing

Pacquiao won every round easily, and knocked him down 6 times.

As I said in another thread recently, it was actually an excellent, pretty much flawless performance. No attacking fighter looks good against movers generally (even scrubby ones), especially taller, rangier ones who are quite as negative as Algieri, but Pacquiao chased him down and had him for breakfast, made it look easy.

It's no secret that Max worships Roy and Whitaker - but everything he said was correct. Roy and Leonard in their primes were clearly better fighters than Floyd, but Floyd's longevity has made him an all time great.

Max's comparison to Shaq vs Duncan was extremely accurate. With Roy being Shaq, and Floyd being Duncan. Floyd is very much Duncan like in that he's extremely fundamentally sound in addition to being a very good talent, which has aged him well and made him very good for very long. But Roy and Shaq in their respective primes just had physical talent that were off the sharts and made them soooooooo dominant. It can be argued that Roy and Shaq had the two highest peaks of all time in their respective sports. Shaq in his prime was a level above any version of Duncan, just like Roy in his prime was a level above any Floyd.

Interesting comparison (not that I'm a basketball afficionado) but I see sense in it.

I think comparing Mayweather with Roy is only natural. When mayweather destroyed Corrales, I immediately started to compare him with Jones (who was still JONES at that time).

Both are of the very very few in boxing history that could churn out virtuoso performances after virtuoso performances and against champions. Jones often likens mayweather to himself actually.

Jones was a freak of nature, athletically. Best combination of speed and power in the history of the sport (honorable mention to Mike Tyson and Ray Robinson). But he didn't just have ridiculous speed (mel taylor, leonard and Mosley had comparable handspeed IMO), jones had crazy speed of thought...reflexes, instincts.

Floyd doesn't compare to Jones in terms of physical gifts, although very gifted himself, but where he has the edge on Jones (only discovered after Jones slowed enough to get hit) is that he's a better tactician, and is tougher. In terms of ring intelligence Floyd is perhaps number one of all time. Jones relied heavily on his gifts...Floyd has teh brain and the toughness to go with it.

I don't agree that ray leonard was better than Floyd though. Not at all...but that's a matter of opinion I guess. Leonard was fast and tough with decent pop...but he was hittable and he wasn't that much of a ring tactician. Overall Floyd has more skills.

    Gotta disagree there.

Leonard was EXCELLENT at making adjustments and he was a thinker in there. Because he fought more aggressively than Floyd maybe some would be tempted to say that Floyd was more of a thinker but that's just not true. Leonard would spot your weaknesses and capitalize on them the moment he saw them.

His fights with Benitez and Hearns are prime examples of this.

And I think Benitez was just as good defensively as Floyd with better offense and more pop on his punches.

I do think Floyd has a higher ring IQ than Leonard had. I don't think that makes him better.

Leonard was more talented and had intangibles in him that I don't think Floyd possess.

Algieri kept him out long enough not to get sparked. If Manny couldn't stay on that bum long enough to stop him, he ain't staying on Floyd long enough to stop him.

IMO and I'm a big Roy fan as well..

Floyd is without question a better technical boxer than Roy,

Roy is like Ali in some ways, do some Things that are "wrong" by the book of boxing but can do so because of freakish talent.
Lead left hooks without a jab, lead rights, pulling straight back... Etc.
Floyd is more of a textbook boxer, although he does pull back at Times using reflex and distance judging to avoid the shot..

He didn't keep him at bay, like literally not at all. Whenever Manny attacked, he reached him easily and landed, despite the difference in reach and height. Have you even seen the fight, or do you just know Manny didn't stop him?

No he didn't stop him, but who is saying he's going to stop Floyd? He probably isn't going to stop Floyd, no, that seems very unlikely, but that doesn't mean he can't land enough on Floyd to outpoint him.

In the same vein, I could say if that bum Maidana can bumrush Floyd and win 5 rounds, what's stopping Manny from winning 7?

I've seen parts of it, the knockdowns, the "In his cage.....bang he's down" bits.....Pac wasn't able to stop him, period.
6 times down means 6 times to attack a guy you just dropped, take him out.

    Numsaying.....:dunno:

    Pac has no chance tonight.

As for Pac and Maidana, screwdrivers and wrenches.

So basically you have no idea what you're talking about. Watch the whole fight, Pacquiao was impressive against the sort of hideous, negative fighter that can make ANYONE look bad.

Pac wasn't able to stop him, who cares? Most of us realise Pacquiao's best chance of winning is to simply steal rounds from Floyd with speed, activity, unpredictability.
