You're either inventing your own definition of aesthetically pleasing or you are being a pissy cunt because I disagree with you

  2. ok.

We;ve exhausted this topic now methinks anyway. I think we're looking at the topic in two different ways, at least you now understand where I'm coming from (Irish is on the same page as me).

Aesthetically pleasing apparently equals textbook style to you chaps

Nope....far from it, if that was the case, how could anyone say VK is not aesthetically pleasing...his right hand is glued to his jaw, his left hand is down around his knee, he wants the other guy to attack and he is limited going forward.

The fact that the big knock against him in 1997 was that he "Can't Fight Going Backwards" shows you how LITTLE people actually watch fights.

    Crowd at MSG disagreed.

  8. Doesn't have to be textbook. Ali's style was far from textbook, but any objective observer must concede that he was graceful (pre exile specifically). Michael Second to Nunn (one of my all time favourites) was unconventional, but again graceful. Joe Frazier was simply not graceful. He had a sloppy herky jerky caveman way of fighting.

Maybe they liked the "style" :wack:

So now Calzaghe is a come forward, hands down, make them miss kind of guy.

So now "graceful" is what aesthetically pleasing means?

You have yet to successfully separate style and aesthetic

Here is Cloggs Cat. He has great aesthetics. Why...cos he is Cloggs cat, and Clogg likes his style.

  14. Yes. "smooth", "good form", "good technique", "balance", "poetry in motion", "elegance", "sophistication", "the great slystaff".....all these terms work.

  15. Irish

    Irish Yuge, Beautiful

I wouldn't say that. American Muscle Cars have great lines, great angles, great aesthetics. Can't handle or move for shit.

Go and get me a Vanilla Twist with Sparkles in it!!!

So how do you get Calzaghe in there?

  18. I don't agree on calzaghe. I never named him as a style I found particularly aesthetically pleasing. His style is a little bit like sergio martinez at times, which is less than pleasing to the eye.

I've said that Calzaghe was an exceptional talent, but that's a different matter entirely.

So you guys are not on the same page after all

Let's just go back to the fat-cats. Much simpler.

    Fat Cat....I like his style.

  23. We're on the same page as to what the topic is referring to.

  24. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

    Evidently not...

    Nah, we are, essentially.

Sly has sort of hit on the essence of the matter. Its like Yeats said, separate the dancer from the dance.

I like the tango, but not when so-and-so is doing it.

What I feel is the driving factor here is whether the fighter is LIKED, per se, to begin with.

  26. I use the word "style" differently to how he uses it in this topic, but the "spirit of the law" is the same. As Ali would say..."you're just being an agitator" lol

You can't have one of you insisting on a rigid definition of "aesthetically pleasing" and then disagree on an example of it...

    Yes we can.

It happens all the time in life.

Sly likes Beer. He drinks his from a tall glass, and his is a Heineken, every time, as it has less bubbles and disturbs his sensitive gut less. He tips the waiter.

I like Beer, I drink mine from the can and then then throw the empty can at Sly. Mine is a Bud as Huckleberrys had it on a special.

    They bofe Beers!!!

Bradley has to rank amongst the least. He's been ranked in the top 10 P4P for a while now, and I've even seen him as top 5.

But man, his style is so fucking ugly. He's less herky jerky than say, Jermain Taylor, but still has this sort of weird, awkward rhythm to his style, and weird punching technique, that is very unpleasing to the eye.

Despite that though, I have always rated and respected him. He can fight and is tough as nails.

  30. nonsense.

Someone may think Frank Bruno has one punch power, some else may not. Both agree on the definition of power.
