That's not true. It wasn't because he was hurt. Bernard Hopkins summed it up perfectly in his pre-fight analysis. He said at some point in the first six rounds Floyd's counters will make Manny think before he throws. When that happens Floyd takes over the fight because Floyd thinks while Manny fights on instinct.

Had nothing to do with Manny being hurt. He was never hurt. In fact, I was surprised at how well Manny handled Floyd's shots. I thought Floyd would take Manny out with a counter than hurt him...Floyd landed the counters and landed them as flush as he wanted. None of them hurt Manny.

Manny hurt him and drove him back with the good shots he landed...not the other way around.

Wlad has had a dominating record over the last decade, not counting his knockout losses before that. He isn't always the most exciting fighter, but who is better than him as a fighter? Meaning who can beat him in a boxing match. His brother, probably, but I wouldn't want to see that.

He hasn't thrown 1000 in years....you're acting like this is the Pacquiao who overwhelmed cotto or odh. It's not.

Your points are valid (Bernard's summation) but Manny was hurt. You can tell in the eyes. I have to rewatch the fight to tell you the rounds in happened in...but it was once with a right hand and a few times with check hooks. Perhaps hurt is too strog a word...but stunned.

so i'm piecing together your own personal dictionary here. 'Big fight' = 'good fight' and 'better fighter' = 'better fighter among guys as big or bigger'

Yeah but the fact he basically cheats two minutes and 30 seconds of every round has made his wins a non-story.....

I was excited for this fight. Sometime around 2010 or 2011. I wanted to be excited about it this time, but it went the way I expected. Floyd with another decision victory, neither fighter taking risks and going all out. This wasn't the fight of the century.

AP reporting Manny had a right shoulder injury and NSAC denied him the use of anti-inflammary medicine prior to the fight.

The fact that he almost always knocks out his opponent makes him one of the greatest of all time.

"Big fight" meaning a real meaningful fight in boxing history. RJJ / Tarver (1 and 2) were more meaningful than this. I'm saying that as a Pacquaio fan.

115-113 for Mayweather. He fought scared and Pac didn't do enough in some rounds.

Christ Almighty, I haven't been a Floyd fan in like 8 years, but these Pactard excuses are forcing me to stick up for him. "But.......but...... Floyd ran........ but..... he held......... but......but....... Manny had a bum shoulder."

The only Floyd criticism is that he didn't take chances late to try and close the show. And Teddy Atlas is correct, Ray Leonard would have looked to close the show.

But we already knew that isn't Floyd. We already knew that unless he caught Manny with a big counter that took him out, that he was gonna box his way to a UD.

Why the outrage? Did people think he was gonna all of a sudden gain the killer instinct of Leonard and Robinson for one fight?

Pac isn't a pressure fighter, imo.. Maidana, Hatton, Castillo, those guys are pressure fighters

Do you think Pacquiao or Mayweather are better pound for pound fighters than Roy Jones Jr in his prime? Historically speaking. The greatest P4P fighter of all time facing his first real test, and then losing, that isn't as important as the sparring session tonight?

    My drunk take.

Floyd clearly won. Anywhere from 10-2 to 8-4 acceptable.

A lot of clear Floyd rounds that didn't have much action. I wondered before the cards were read if it would be really close.

Tarver was Roy's first real test? Smells like hindsight to me.

They're saying Manny had an MRI and it revealed his had a tear in his shoulder.

As someone who has had rotator cuff surgery (tendons torn off the bone) that shit HURTS. I couldn't lift my arm to put on a shirt, couldn't lift it to turn a doorknob or put the key in my car ignition.

RJJ dominated every opponent he faced, 50 fight in a row until he fought Tarver. The Griffin disqualification was an official loss, but everyone who saw the fight knew who won. Tarver was the first man to defeat him. The first fight was about even, but the second fight showed who was the better fighter at that time. The end of an era, like Lewis / Vitali.

Well, it is a fight........ and Manny did nail him a with a few solid straight lefts that buzzed him.

So, the lip isn't a surprise.

Still doesn't change Manny getting hopelessly outboxed.

I disagree. To say that fight was anywhere near as important as FM vs MP is to simply be incorrect. It's not a matter of opinion. It's fact.

Agreed. I don't think he held or moved excessively either. And trust me, if he did, I would be one of the first guys on here calling him a pussy.

He COULD have opened up more, but that would have given Pac his ONLY opportunity at winning, since he was totally inept when Floyd kept him in center ring.

So Floyd just took what was given to him. He didn't fight "scared". He just didn't take chances. And I wasn't expecting him to.

ACTUALLY, he stood in the pocket more than I thought he would. Pac had no clue how to handle him.

I would expect hearing "Floyd ran" from CASUAL fans, but guys on here are suppose to know the difference between boxing and running.

Guess not. Well, they DO know the difference - Floyd hatred is just blinding them right now.

If Mayweather fought some dude who had gone previously unnoticed in the boxing scene, some audacicous fucker who told him he'd get knocked the fuck out, and then got knocked out brutally, that would be comparable to RJJ / Tarver 2. The fight that actually happened tonight wasn't as important as RJJ / Tarver 2.
