Mosley-DLH? It seems like big fights never live up to expectations anymore and are void of any drama. 80s and 90s had so many legendary super fights.

Depends on definition of superfight. DLH-Vargas ot Tito-Vargas were both good big fights. Lewis-tyson at least had a ko and it was a huge superfight.

Trinidad Vargas. DLH Vargas doesn't qualify as a superfight IMO

Bigger fight now as opposed to the short notice fight back then, but what a fight that was.

That wasn't a superfight....it was better than expect it sorta came out of nowhere...VItaly did better than expected...n the reason it's remeber today is because the ref/doc didn't let it continue..preventing Lewis from finish it in convincing fashion.

If Klitschko vs Lewis had gotten the billing that Pac vs May had got, then it would be remembered as the most recent "Good" Superfight.

For me. it has to be said that the last three superfights have featured a loser who either couldn't or wouldn't do it on the night.

Oscar vs Tito, Manny vs Floyd and Haye vs Wlad...the losers all came up short and let us wondering what their shit talk had been about.

It was over here, 80,000 Stadium fight, HBO and British PPV involved, Unification bout, both men earning career-high purses.

Honestly, you might be right. Superfights are almost always disappointing these days.

If your judging a super fight by that criteria then ok I won't argue...i guess for me I judge it by 2 hall of fame fighters at their primes ready to face one another

i don't count Lewis vs Holyfield as a superfight at all

perhaps i should have said AROUND or CLOSE to their primes because Hagler was undisputed and Sugarin that specific fight turned back the clock and looked like the welterweight version of himself ha ha

Tito-Vargas was the last big PPV fight that not only lived up to, but EXCEEDED expectations.

That's a dumbass, and revisionist statement.

Looking back it's easy to say it wasn't because the fight was boring, one sided, and ended in a horrible robbery. But going in, Lewis vs Holy was INDEED a superfight.

Weird to think that Vitali Klitchko was never behind on the scorecards on any fight of his entire career despite having two losses.

Sometimes I question how good some of yalls memories are.

Lewis vs Vitali was a superfight now??????

WTF? Have yall forgotten that going in that fight was thought to be a COMPLETE MISMATCH?? Everyone thought Quitali was a heartless, fragile bum and that Lewis would smoke him inside of 3.

It was HARDLY considered a superfight going in. It wasn't even considered a big fight, let alone a superfight.

your a dumbass for thinking that was a superfight considering Holyfield was clearly past his prime....why don't you watch Holyfield during his earlier years...why do I even need to tell you that...your smarter then that

Lewis-V.Klitchko wasn't a PPV fight and I don't remember a ton of hype around it.

I don't follow your logic. That is like saying May-Pac wasn't a superfight since both were past their best too. Holy vs Lewis was for the undisputed heavyweight title after several years, between the two who were unanimously considered to be the best and back when it meant much more than it does now

This statement tells that you must not have been following the sport in the late 90's.

Nobody called Holy past his prime until AFTER THIS FIGHT.

Going in, he was the HEAVY favorite over Lewis and most media and experts thought he'd destroy Lewis. Personally, I thought Lewis had the size and style to give Holy problems, but I expected Holy to come on and stop him late. Didn't happen, and after that fight THAT'S when people started saying Holy's finally gotten old.

That's a FACT, it's not revisionist history like the tall tale you're telling.

dude....i was obsessed with boxing up until 2004....i still followed but not like before

I'm my own person...i don't need to listen to people to tell me what my eyes are telling me...Holyfiend from the time he knocked out buster douglas and to the time he had that trilogy with Bowe IMO was in his prime..how we forget how people thought he would be murdered by a non prime tyson because he was washed up..oh but he beats Tyson and people jump on the bandwagon again....now all of sudden you want to tell me he was in his prime against Lewis after that snorefest with VAUGHN BEAN....VAUGN FREAKIN BEAN

anyone picking Holyfield to beat Lewis are fools

whats next...Tyson was in his prime now when he fought Holyfield? Geez

from a boxing fan's perspective...this was a superfight YEARS AGO....Manny was at the top of his game and destroying people...dude lost to Bradley which was closer then people want to admit, got knocked out cold against marquez, heck I even thought that pussy Algieri would give manny problems

if you guys want to factor in media buzz, ppv, and fans interest then fine we can consider it a superfight...i won't argue against that...for myself i dont

LOL. It was hardly foolish. It was the logical thing to do. We look back, and we say, yeah Holy looked old against Bean and Lewis is one of the great heavyweights of all time, how could Holy be favored? But going in that was simply NOT the world's perception. And I don't just mean CASUAL fans, none of the boxing media was picking Lewis either.

The thought was that Lewis was VERY talented, but was a glass chinned front runner. And nobody cared that Holy looked like crap against Bean, because Holy was considered a guy who fought to level of his opposition, and that he would be his best vs Lewis. And the thought was, his best would be too much for Lewis.

It was a HUGE fight though. In terms of build-up, other than the two Holy-Tyson fights, it had the biggest build-up of any heavyweight fight in the 90s. But it was a huge fight that virtually nobody thought Lewis would win.

X...dawg...Lewis if I'm not mistaken was a 2-1 favorite...could be wrong...US media always was tough on lewis though...now you take Holyfield in his first reign and match him up with Lewis.....Holyfield would have worn him out and knocked him out in about 8 or 9 rounds..sometimes when i get bored...i throw in a young holyfield and watch him go to work with his combination punching and workrate
