What do you think? Say he beats some mook in September (Khan, Brook, Thurman, whoever) do you think he'll really retire undefeated?

Or do you think he'll miss the spotlight (and money) too much and keep fighting until he loses, like almost everyone else?

NO WAY....he will tie Marciano's record...completing his contract with SHOWTIME......n then play around with HBO/get OVERPAID n have ONE FINAL FIGHT for the record 50-0....

Thats whyLAMPLEY was all on FLOYD nuts last nite...talking as if he DOMINATED Pacquiao...they know FLOYD won't retire with 49-0...he wants to break that little white man record....HBO WILL overPAY to have FLOYD FINAL fight on their network.....

  3. He should. His punch resistance is weakening which is a sign of age. It's time to hang em up.

He is supposedly relinquishing all of his belts on Monday. So his "final" fight won't be for a belt unless he fights someone like Brook who already has a belt.

Yep, it obviously seems he's serious about retiring in September, I guess my point is will he stay retired or come back again a year or two down the line when he misses the spotlight and money?

    But will boxing miss him?

Props to his career and his talent but GODDAMN what a boring P4P king of boxing.

AND that final fight to break the record will be against a total scrub 'cause at the end of the day all that will matter will be the record, not the opponent nor to give fans a fight to remember as his last Hurrah.

For a little while. Even if the fighter is a cunt it's still good to have a guy who's considered #1 in the sport when even the mainstream knows his name. Whenever the next guy reaches that stage nobody will miss Floyd. (apart from sly)

Floyd will finish with at least two losses on his record like everyone else. Floyd cares too much about money to leave the sport with mega money still easily within reach.

He will officially retire after two more fights to break Marciano's record, then he will comeback within a two year time frame 'cause he owes money to everybody in the planet and will be almost broke. THEN a scrub will beat him.

    That's what I think.

Knowing that a comeback fight could effortlessly generate many millions, regardless of opponent, and watching his millions in the bank gradually dwindle down, you just know he'll make a comeback.

He won;t be breaking any records. Marciano had 43 KO's.....Floyd has 5.

LOL....it's not about the Ko's...it's about getting to 49-0 and retiring undefeated.

He can retire now as far as I'm concerned

Both him and JMM should retire already.

There is no other fight for him other than a rematch with Pacquaio. Manny did a lot better after watching the fight again. Hurt him twice, had the most telling blows, Floyd never backed Manny up. That's Zero times. Manny will do a lot better in a rematch and with a non injured right shoulder. But it took 5 years for Floyd to finally agree to fight the slower version of Pacquaio.

A lot of people don't like his style of fighting and he won't be missed when he goes and won't be remember as a great FIGHTER. Has fighters in his resume but they were fought at the right time for the picking so he could fight at his pace. Best fight is still Corrales.

Bye bye Floyd. Don't let the door hit you in the ass. Nobody cares who you fight anymore...unless it is with the legend Manny Pacquaio.

Don't sleep on the introduction of a PBC belt.

I think he'll retire after 49 but will come back if somebody can step up to the elite level in the following two years. The problem is there are very few boxers around that division who that somebody can beat to gain crossover appeal (with the exception of Pacquiao, who I think will retire). For example, Pacquiao beat De La Hoya and suddenly the casual fans knew who he was.

There has only been one belt in sports history that's mattered.
