Oh well. At least you now know Old Irish is no Con Man. I stayed up to watch it and I smelled the way it was going. Yes, Scotland did all they could do. Agreed. Labour might collapse now, and given that the Cons and Lab are just two dead bodies holding each other up, that might not be such a bad thing.

    I see UKIP polled well.

Scoats are worth more... (just kilting).

Whit d'Ye think o' this line from the Daily Record?:

'Labour suffered an ‘Ajockalypse Now’ wipe out in Scotland.'

Ajockalypse Now is funny enough but I think the SNP is here to stay. It's Ajockalypse Now and Tomorrow too.

LAbour is not the party of the working man and so it is gone in Scotland. It should be gone in England too.

What the SNP did in Scotland is proof of the validity of a theory I have held dear for some time now.

Nationalism remains the only cure for the disease.

Nationalist parties polled the best part of 6 million votes this time out.

When push came to shove, it was Nationalism that turned vicious and kicked the Labour dog of unfettered diversity squarely in the guts.

If the Labour party had converted Scotland into the multikultopia that it had with London, for example, it would have been much harder for the SNP to work its magic....

Ed Balls- GONE. Harriet Harman- GONE. Ed Milliband-GONE.

Now all we need to do is get shut of the fucking Conservatives and we are off in a hack.

Nationalism works. Thats why they fucking hate it.

To an extent. The breadth of the Conservative victory is a disaster. Politics over here is a lot like that of the US Presidential Election.....a lot comes down to the man himself. How well he wears his suit, eats his food, etc. Silly shit.

Labour, like the Nazi's in 1941, rolled the dice big in 2000 and this is their Moscow now. This is their snow, their Winter, their General Mud. They decided to to abandon their traditional voters. Those voters have snapped back now and Labour are gone in Scotland, where there was an alternative, people took it.

Bear this in mind....SNP took 1.5m votes and got 50+ seats. UKIP too 4m votes and got 1 seat. The system is rigged to make sure that no sizable minorities in England can get in the door.

What you are witnessing is a backlash, and a particularly vicious one at at that, against Labours attempt to destroy the country.

Now what you will witness is the Conservatives attempt to destroy the country.

Unfortunately, with the exception of Scotland and small patches of England and Wales, there is NO alternative and the electoral system is so fucked that even where these alternatives {UKIP, PLAID Cymru, Greens} polled well, they got a disproportionately small number of seats.

UKIP came 2nd in 90 of the seats contested and got 4 million votes, and just 1 seat.

The 3rd largest party in the UK got 1 seat on 13% of the popular vote.

In Ireland, 13% might get you 7 or 8 at least...which is often enough to break government.

If Kiltland voted in favor independence how different do you think the election would have been?

Aye it is mad. Mad that 1.4m votes should count more in one part of the union than nearly 3 times the number in another part of the Union.

BY RIGHTS, the United Kingdom should have a Rainbow coalition.

Something the Queen mother is alleged to have said still rings true: the best form of Government for the UK is a slim Conservative Government being opposed by a very very strong Labour opposition.

Now you've got a weak, thick, unimaginative Conservative Govt and a totally rudderless, destroyed Labour party which, to be fair, is only barely in opposition. Its more in opposition to itself than anyone else.

Don't quote me on this because i haven't checked properly but i think, presuming you count UKIP as a right of centre party (and labour & lib dem as left, which their supporters certainly are if nothing else) that this might be the first time since ww2 that a majority of votes cast have been for right of centre parties.

They still fell a bit short - 49.5% including the two ulster bad egg parties. It's the biggest proportion since 1955 though.

Yeah, you want into the Club, that's fine. You can take Irelands place when we leave, and then you can take the boatloads of dross floating across the Med. They will pitch up in Dubrovnik and then walk the rest of the way.

    Consider yourself culturally enriched.

Look at their policies.........they don't truly have any. They are populist, and, for me, a populist party is by default Right, rather than Left.

Besides, any ethnic hatred, and associated para-militarism, is Right-wing, never left wing.

Ironically the difference in popular vote between labour and tory actually closed by over half a %, despite Labour's losses in Scotland. First past the post is a mess.

As i said this morning I dont think Cameron really believes in anything at all. An interviewer once asked him why he had wanted to be prime minister and he ummed for a bit trying to delve into himself for an answer then replies 'well I guess i thought i'd be jolly good at it'.

Hut has been following things closely in a sort of measured and intelligent fashion.

I have been following it in a much more, to use Cloggs word, visceral fashion.

Apart from the abiding ability of the vinegar of nationalism to cut through the fat of modern plurality bullshit, I have not seen much to like.

Lloyd George is rooted in nothing; he is void and without content; he lives and feeds on his immediate surroundings; he is an instrument and a player at the same time which plays on the company and is played on by them too; he is a prism, as I have heard him described, which collects light and distorts it and is most brilliant if the light comes from many quarters at once; a vampire and medium in one. - John Maynard 'The' Keynes.

The fascination of little peoples in Europe with the entire EU scam never fails to amuse me.
