It's how badly he responds to being hit. Guy is like a cow in the slaughterhouse. Makes. Canelo look like Tommy Hearns
He did well tonight but......he has not become a big puncher overnight. This guy Kirkland is badly damaged.
Kirland's ALWAYS Talked like that...In Fact, he's MORE "Well Spoken" TODAY than he's EVER Been... Sad, Perhaps Funny, yet TRUE... REED:kidcool:
The first serious shot he got hit with dropped him like a cowin a slaughterhouse and alvarez could have taken him out in that round. Everytime he took one clean, he stiffened.
When I retire, I'll settle down on a nice plantation where your mother and father will tend to the crops fertilized by the manure produced from your four-stomached "wife" and you will have the pleasure of shining my shoes
Yeah...Kirkland should have hugged and ran around the ring and avoided any and every exchange like fagweather.
It all depends on what type of fight it is. Cotto wins a boxing match. A slugfest? I think we all know that favors Ging.......
WATCH the Fight, Dude... Canelo was FOLDING Kirkland w/BODYSHOTS & Hurt him @ Least 1nce or 2wice to the Head, PRIOR to Dropping Him in Round 1... REED Ain't Making Tooooooooooo MUCH of Tonight, Meanwhile, You're Trying VERY Hard to UNDERSELL the Performance, for Some Reason... Personally, REED Scored Round 1 10-7 Canelo, w/Only 1 Knockdown...Why???...Because Canelo Practically Unleashed his ENTIRE Arsenal Upon Kirkland's Dome, in that Round...It's HARD to Get your Ass Whipped THAT Thoroughly in a Single Round, w/Out Getting Stopped...Nonetheless, Kirkland was Right There, IN Canelo's Chest, FIRING Punches in Round 2... And Round 3... Kirkland Showed a LOT of Shortcomings Tonight, but LACK of Punch Resistance WAS NOT 1 of Them...Sorry...Not to Anybody that Actually WATCHED the Fight, That Is... REED:kidcool:
Not gonna lie, for a MOMENT I thought maybe Canelo was starting to slow down, and Kirkland was still coming forward. Then James walked into that uppercut, and it was done from there. Good performance by the Ginger.
HBO was hyping this slaughter the whole fight...it was totally non competitive...the only drama in this fight was which punch by Canelo does NOT HURT Kirkland
Also, Canelo hit him with a huge shot.. Kirkland's chin isn't granite, but I don't think a lot of JMs take that type of shot without blinking. And as REED said, Canelo can punch.
Label it as You Wish; the Point is, Canelo Alvarez Certainly Is Not WITHOUT Punching Power... Is he GGG or Matttttthhhhhyyyyyyssse, No...But NO World Class Fighter is Going to Last Toooooooo Terribly Loooooong, Looking to TRADE w/a Guy like Canelo, for the Duration of a Boxing Match...Canelo's Heavy Handed, Hits Hard w/EITHER Hand, has Above Average Handspeed AND has a Good VARIETY of Shots... REED:fightme:
Yeah, let's not let tonight fool us. Canelo is a GOOD puncher, but he doesn't have GGG, Kov, or Stevenson type power. Kirkland would have lasted about 90 seconds with Golov. Having said that, Canelo DOES have the power to potentially take out fragile Cotto if he catches him right.
His variety and combos impress me more than his power. I'll give him that much, if he's facing a guy who comes at him, he puts together very nice, fluid combos. There's none who can deny that he's offensively talented. He just has major limitations against technicians. If Canelo had the P4P power of say, Kov, then my God he'd be something special.
THIS... If an OFFENSIVE Lb for Lb List was Compiled, of Current Fighters, Canelo Alvarez is CLEARLY Top 5-10 @ the Absolute Worst... VERY Good Combination Puncher, Who Throws EVERY Shot in the Book, w/MORE than Respectable Power...In Short, Canelo's Hands are VERY Nice... What Impresses REED the Most about Canelo is his AGE...As POLISHED as he is Offensively, Dude's JUST 24...Some Have Argued Otherwise, but REED's Convinced Canelo Can Still Get BETTER... REED:mj:
Canelo's very much in his prime right now. He's ALWAYS been polished offensively. That was NEVER his problem. His problem is and always be guys who box him and give him angles. Canelo isn't a pressure fighter and never will be, and he's not fleet of foot.
disagREED... Canelo Can Tighten Up Some Things DEFENSIVELY & Improve his CONDITIONING...Not Only Does Canelo have Room for Improvement, he Has Time to MAKE Those Improvements... & the Offensive Wherewithal will Be Ever Present...Dude Can DEFINITELY Get Better, which Tells REED Canelo's NOT In his Prime, as of Yet... REED:nono:
I agree with Reed. Things like cutting off the ring better and timing are things that can be learned, and these assets would make Canelo clearly better. He has plenty of room and time to improve
