:: Fuck him. Sorry waste of space. Granted he was molested as a kid, but........he had a chance to reform.
I was reading random threads when I saw that and laughed my head off... You are a hilarious man, Slice:l2:
If Duran is really a standup guy he will come out and say......"I was just getting ready to fight him".....:: Remember, Ayalas people were all on about how Tony really really wanted that Duran fight, "but then Duran went and lost to some guy called Laing"
Never Met Ayala, Jr., but Tony Sr. was a Coooooool Ass Old Man...Was ALWAYS There for REED, w/Matchmaking Advice, Referrals, Good Ol' Boxing Talk and Stories... REED:kidcool:
When i saw the photos in Ring of Tony leaving prison with his mother and father, they struck me as being dirt-poor decent.
DECENT People for Sure... Mr. Ayala Loooooooooved and Supported his Son til the Day he Died...Even Though he Wanted To, REED Didn't have the BALLS to Ever Bring Up Tony Jr., but 1 Day Mr. Ayala Did.... He Basically Uttered Words to the Effect of "....it's Bad Enough your Kid is Locked Up, but People Don't Realize the Damage it Does to YOUR Name. To MY Name. I'M Tony Ayala and I Named my son after Me." He was Basically Alluding to the RESISTANCE he was Subsequently Met w/, After Jr.'s UNCONSCIONABLE Acts....Mr. Ayala Went from THE Hot Trainer in Texas, 1 of Manny Steward's Asst. Coaches, to BOOM, Never Guided an ELITE Fighter Ever Again.... Trained Quite a Few Club Show Level Guys who Surprised Here and There, but that was about It... REED:kidcool:
.....to say R.I.P to that rapist...would be politically correctness.........to say FUCK HIM...may he burn in HELL while John Holmes fuck him in the ass...would be very rude and ignorant...definitely not politically correct....
I never understood that sort of thing, and never felt it had any place in boxing. I never had boxing down as a snobby sport. I could "understand" if some people piled in from OUTSIDE boxing and said "Get this man off the scene", that's fairly routine. The trend of "outside" parties to interfere in boxing is well established, but internal snobbery, to the extent that somebody's ability to earn and practise their trade on account of what their son had done OUTSIDE boxing, was not something I thought existed. Sad. He died of Diabetes recently. When I saw the Ring photos of them coming to the prison to collect Tony Jr, even the bags they were carrying their stuff in, their clothes, suggested they were not very well to do and just very very basic people. Ironically, the son cost the father his livelihood, and the son ended his life soon after the father. I don't agree with the father taking the kids out of school so early to box, but its a recurring theme. Old Man Hilton did it with his kids. One of them went down on sex-beef. Seems to me to be fairly well established.
He was abused as a child. His brothers were heroin addicts. His father took him out of school early. He should have gone to the Olympics and then who knows. Instead, he raped somebody and because he was a good-earner, his legal defense team dragged it out and cut a deal with the victim. The negativity of a trial and conviction, and the help which can sometimes come with it, was avoided. Then he did it again and it was game over. Not a nice man, he deserved to do time, I make no excuses for him, but if you take a look at the pattern that was in place, he was being set up from a very young age to fuck up badly. There was some counselor creep called Brian something-or-other who was something of a Norman Mailer character {hi Clogg}, sort of liked to "hang" with boxers and stuff. You know where he took Ayala to celebrate when he got out of jail......a strip joint.
Donald Curry's Enduring the "SNOBBY" Side of Boxing as Well... ALL he Wants to Do is Train Fighters and See Where Things Go From There...But w/All the Local Whispering about his Sexual Orientation, People are RELUCTANT to Give him a Chance... REED:mj:
Wow, I didn't even know Curry was around let alone wanted to be a trainer. The only time I see his name brought up is in the MM forum or a HOF thread.
