You are both getting a lot of wood on the ball here........in a way the thing is fucked, in a way there is nought to be done aboot it, in a way we are right to be angry, in a way it doesn't matter.

Bangladeshi girls in sweatshops making the replica kits worn by out of work morons who pay £50 a pop, and complain bout how they are being ripped off by the Mike Ashleys of this world.

    They all have a point.

Speaking for myself I'd rather have one night like the inter game than anything sky tv money buys English fans in a season. nothing that happened in an English stadium touched that this year be sure of that

I agree. Juventus have been great for football this year. Rejects United FC of Turin vs Moneybags and Oil Rags FC...brilliant.

With Juventus there is hope for all, they are like Liverpool of 2005 under Moores and Parry and Benitez.

Indeed, but Juve and Athletico, Dortmund offer hope to a certain tier of clubs, and Celtic doesn't belong to that tier anymore

    Scottish Independence is coming.

I think with Rangers coming back, and maybe just maybe if Aberdeen got their fucking act together....its possible.

Celtic need the threat of Rangers.

Aye its certainly tribute to the smart management of those clubs that they manage to get 20x the tv revenue and exposure Celtic do

Thst hasn't made a difference. Footballing factors operate at the extreme margins now. The ever widening gulf in revenue driven by the tv-ization of the game is the only factor worth factoring

So is that it then? Increasingly infrequent "big European nights" (c), together with some commentator guff about the special atmosphere etc. as they lose to mid, then lower-tier European clubs...there doesn't seem to be any desperation to reclaim status, I don't care as I am not a fan, but if I was drowning I would be reaching for a branch or any avenue (escape scotland?) to get out of that predicament

'Commentator guff' is all itd be to somebody who never attends games. tv-ization of fitbaw n all that.

Look football is decided by revenue and revenue is decided by tv companies. We could set ourselves alight with desire but nothing will change that. And in our circumstances Celtic are more acutely aware of that than just about anyone and have been trying to escape Scotland since the 90s but there's no prospect. In 2003 we had the 10th highest turnover in Europe. The worlds moved fast since then

There just seems to be a complacency and lack of innovation among Dermot Desmond and the money men at Celtic, big crowds and plenty of merchandise flogged, shift some promising player to a mid table premiership club, win the league again..it's like a marginally less depressing version of Newcastle, except the goals is to be just a bit better than even more poorly resourced Scottish clubs....as a matter of interest, would you like to see Celtic play Liverpool or Arsenal during a regular season (if they managed to ascend to top league)?

If you have some grand scheme to defy the laws of football gravitation we're all ears

every Celtic fan would like to see us playing big teams/prem teams regularly but us wanting it has never been the obstacle

Well, I just don't think fatalism is the only response, even Leeds can dream of eventually catching a break, whereas your present/future only means no more Laarsons and a steady diet of Anthony Stokes (who are itching to move to something better)..at any point does the supporter start to think we're watching pish here, let's start agitating for some change...I don't know the ins and outs of why it cannot happen but it's not the middle east conflict, there should be a way surely

I agree....but if Tom Sellick were playing the Powerless Rangers week in week out {i.e. 5-6 TIMS a year} then surely ye would have more Fitbaw Money

    UNLESS Gorgeous George and Slippery Dave decide ETVMFEC {English TV money for English clubs like}

Supporters certainly think we're watching pish. There was 60k every week when Larsson & moravcik were here with a 15k waiting list on top of that for season tickets and now the average attendance is 40k tops. But there is no solution. Agitate to who? The board have been making attempts to get into the premiership for going on 20 years, they saw the way this was going. If the situation seems shit to you direct your derision at the structure of the game and its funding, not Celtic fans. Because its a blackhole thats sucking everyone in at differential rates....this year you'll blame Liverpool's failure to finish better than 5th on Steven Gerrard next year it'll be something else and the year after that something else - truth is its because you have the 5th biggest turnover/wagebill. Exceptional circumstances aside (like chancing upon a Saurez before quickly having to sell him to somebody much richer) that'll be all we need to know in early august

I can see it....Leeds, Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen, Wigan, Bolton, Newcastle and the rest of the SPL in Norn Super League.....no reason why it could not happen.

I wouldn't support Liverpool either, but both of their support are good eggs, so I don't wish them bad. Contrast with loathsome fascist scum Chelsea, Rangers etc.

Don't GO to the Premier League. Bring the Premier League TO YOU.

Ask Leeds, Newcastle, Wigan, Bolton, Sunderland.............just what is in the Premier League for you....:dunno:

If you form a League of yer own...with them....before you know it.....Leeds or Newcastle might be playing in Europe every year.

Sunderland might be dreaming, realistically, of a top 4 finish in a domestic league that is now strong enough to demand 4 places.

Fuck it....the English Clubs are monied up like Oxford Street Arabs and they can't do a fucking thing in Europe.....no way the above could do worse.

I thought you were Irish, which means you support Celtic and let the Church take your money off you, and other stereotypes I read in the Graun.

Just let me get this right.............the Church does not fiddle your bottom OR your bottom-line......correct :dunno:

Shocking......you do say prayers, right, ....no....:scratcher:

In relation to Liverpool, you also have to point towards how the Suarez money was spent, how the run-in was handled during the past few weeks (while Utd. were in relative doldrums), I don't think fift this year was inevitable for Liverpool. Anyhow, here's hoping something gives, I'd be intrigued to watch Celtic in an EPL context, it would add to the spectacle.

92% of variation in premiership league position over the last 20 years is explained by wage bill. A stat to remember.

THE EXACT OPPOSITE. I am recounting to YOU my experience of what the ENGLISH think of IRELAND and the IRISH.

With the Gay Referendum, they were making out "Oh see how the Irish no longer do what the Church tells them to do".

Aye. The Priests in Ireland have not given a worthwhile order for over half a fucking century.

In that same period, Europe has told the Irish what to do UMPTEEN times................and done likewise to the Brits.
