Luke to me, looks bigger and stronger. I also think he's more versatile on the ground. Don't get me wrong, There is not much between these guys.

Take the Machida fight, Weidman did Weidman and out chinned Lyoto. Luke absolutely dominated him like no other. Styles makes fights and all that, however Luke has looked more impressive to my eye.

Yeah, but i think that weidman fight took a lot out of Machida. Machida did not even look right in that fight. And let's not forget, Rockhold got knocked out by Vitor. But Weidman and Rockhold are virtually identical in size. I think Rock is 1 inch tallker, but Weidman has a 1 or 2 inch reach advantage. Rock looks bigger because of his upper body, but I dont see him being a better wrestler than Weidman who is not only an amazing wrestler, but a BJJ blackbelt. That combination is very difficult to have an advantage on the ground against. Which is why Chris dominates when he is down there.

No doubt is was a different Machida but it was also a very different Victor. I think Luke is also a black belt in BJJ?

Who do you think is the better striker? For me it's Rockhold, I think Luke will have the ability to stay on his feet and out strike Chris. If it goes to the ground, from what I have seen I would also favor Luke.

Yes, but he was not a NCAA Division I Wrestler like Weidman. One thing Rockhold will have that will help is Cormier and Cain in training. But IMO Rock would be better at LHW than Middleweight.

Can't be denied, Rockhold did look extremely good against Bisping. That was an awesome feint body to head kick that started Bisping getting KHTFO hbahabha habhabhabajhbah ahab.

Wouldn't surprise me if he did manage to bash Weidman. Pretty fucking surprising he lost to Vitor, but MMA is just weird, and Vitor was juiced.

Bisping gets beat a lot tho. I cant put too much stock in that victory. The Machida victory was good, but i knew Rock would win, i just didnt know that bad. I want to see what Machida is like in his next fight. I think the man might be damaged goods. I really wish Rock would have fought Sousa again for the the #1 contendership. that really would have made things so much clearer. But oh well. We still might see it, if Chris gets injured again.

Sure, I was going to say "It is only Bisping", but I guess it's just obvious he's not really an elite fighter.

No one has made him look like quite such an ineffective scrub as Rockhold did though, so that was impressive.

I stand by my previous statement though, that a lot of his success comes from being a huge, strong 185 pounder.

I mean the guy i good, no doubt. I picked him to beat Vitor. I have actually picked him to beat everyone he has ever faced. This will be the first time i will pick against him.

Machida is one of my favorite fighters. I don't know if he's damaged goods or if he's just declining with age. It used to be impossible to take him down and hold him down. He would have beaten Weidman and Rockhold if he could have stopped the takedowns. His elite striking isn't going to beat elite fighters if he can't keep the fight standing.

I think his striking is inconsitent. Which is why i stopped liking him as a fighter.

Who ever beat him in a striking match? Shogun found the right style, but no one else had been able to do it since then.

Not that it matters now. Machida can still beat a lot of good fighters, but I don't see him making a run at the title. I'd rather see him retire than get destroyed again.

He should have won those decisions. Rampage was surprised when they announced him as the winner. Machida kicked his ass and almost finished him in the 3rd. The first 2 rounds were even because neither guy did much. That's one thing people don't like about Machida, the fact that he takes a couple rounds to get started sometimes.

I wish more judges would score 10-10 and 10-8 rounds. Nothing Rampage did in the first 2 rounds was as meaningful as what Machida did in the 3rd.

but that is my point. Machida is inconstant. He doesnt throw when he should. Many times he sits there and does nothing.

Sometimes he waits too long for an opportunity to counter. Someone like Bader makes a mistake, and he gets knocked the fuck out. Someone like Rampage sits there and also does nothing, and it's boring. I wish Machida had been more aggressive too.

I loved how he changed his gameplan in the Weidman fight. Waiting for an opportunity to counter wasn't working, obviously. He came out in the 4th round and just went for it, landing a million hard shots that would have knocked most guys out. Weidman won because he has a hell of a chin, and because he got the takedown again in the 5th.
