Bog-standard boxing flick following every cliche ever in a boxing flick?

 

worse...in this one the fighter undergoes a few months training to change his style from a face first brawler to defensive counter puncher :scratcher:

 

I presume he hires buddy mcgirt?...sounds shite, won't be watching

Completely mediocre boxing movie. Like almost every movie ever made by Antoine Fuqua: It looks slick, has a great trailer and lacks any semblance of soul or tangible emotion, no matter how much the actors try to emote, and a complete lack of tension.

Gyllenhaal tries his best but can't escape the fact his character is kind of an asshole, while all the people around him are just too good to be true.....including his wife and daughter.

Even the bad guys...........aren't that bad.

It turns out, no matter how low Billy Hope sinks to the bottom of the gravel pit of despair, all he needs is a two minute montage set to the music of Eminem to reclaim his throne as King of The Ring and Apple in his daughters eye.
