The whole "I am not a MW", doesn't fly when you hold the MW title. If you don't want to fight the best MW's then vacate and move back to 154 for good. He can obviously make the weight.

 

That's exactly how I see it, even as a big Cotto fan.

Cotto is not a middleweight, that's obvious, he weighed under the Jr Middle limit, but he IS the lineal middleweight champion. That gives him an obligation to fight all comers. If he doesn't want to, just move back down to 154 officially, and fight Canelo there.

 

Cotto is a disgrace. His double standards are nauseating.

Not only that, but taking money on the false premise that you are fighting Middlweights, and then draining them down to 157, is just as vulgar and disgusting a thing as you can imagine. Basically an abuse of bargaining power that is so akin to cheating as to make no difference.

The reason Geale shot up in weight so drastically was he has been dragged down in weight so far to begin with.

What this did to his motor skills and punch resistance is obvious.

Why it gets allowed is beyond me. Why it gets rewarded is beyond me.

It's cheating and it is dangerous and it is wrong.

 

Cotto said that making the catch-weight for the Pacquaio fight contributed to his losing the fight.

What does he then do........he teams up with Freddie Roach...........and insists that guys come in at catchweights.

Geale was fucking dead at that weight, he looked like a Ghost.......a spacey look on his face , his personality and physique seemed totally vacated.

 

I don't give a fuck what Cotto weighs. He can come in at 200 for all I fucking care..........its his dragging guys DOWN to suit himself that aggravates fuck out of me.

I've never heard Cotto say that, he seemed to make no excuses against Pacquiao.

Pacquiao won because he's better, Cotto won because he's better - sweating off another couple of pounds made no difference in both cases.

Geale looked like a clueless scrub, he didn't look weight drained.

The Puerto Rican superstar is at a point in his career where it could all fall apart quickly, which is why the Cotto camp negotiated the Geale fight for a catchweight of 157 pounds. The Australian is a natural 160. He's fought much of his career at that weight. He's won a world championship at that weight. And, well, this is officially a fight for the middleweight championship of the world.

The weight limit should be 160 pounds.

Making a natural middleweight drop down to an unnatural 157 pounds is not only irresponsible, it's dangerous. But Geale (31-3, 16 KOs), signed the contract. At press time, it was questionable as to whether the "Real Deal" would be able to make it. Likely a recipe for 11th-hour chaos.

Regardless, the 157 pounds will make for a drained and weak Geale, which makes for a much safer route to a Cotto-Canelo fight than would've been the case otherwise. The Australian is quick-fisted, smart and agile, despite what transpired against Gennady Golovkin. Ordinarily, Geale would give this version of Cotto fits.

Not this time. Not under these circumstances.

Cotto didn't cheat, he suggested a weight and Geale agreed to it - simple as that. If he didn't think he could make 157, he shouldn't have signed the contract.

 

As for the weigh in - who cares? Rios and Morales for example looked drained at many a weigh in, and then looked fine come fight time.

Geale looked the same as ever - a shuffling hoover salesman with no power - he just got outclassed by a much better fighter in Cotto.

 

I agree. Maybe the Jobcenter had better offers and Geale just needs to do his research better.

Being a relatively talented fighter and tight at a weight is one thing.

Being a no-talent mark and fucking dead at the weight is another.

This isn't fucking Rios just making 140, which is his weight division.

It's Geale being forced outside his comfort zone, well outside it, dangerously outside it.....25lbs rehydrated outside it...........

You think being tight at the weight and moderately talented is more of a problem than having no talent and being so dry you expand by nearly two fucking stone overnight.
