He used to be a good ref, but like most. continued his job for too long. In the 2000s it was dangerous to let him ref a fight. RIP anyways, he seemed like a gentleman
I personally liked that he erred on the side of letting fighters fight, but yes, in his later years it probably got to be a bit excessive.
Frank's image will forever live on, as the pic of him pointing Tyson to a neutral corner as he stood over Spinks is one of the most famous images in the history of the sport.
Also one of the sh*ttiest fights in the history of the sport where a guy quit before the fight even began and then went into seclusion right after, never to be seen again ::
At least they should have withheld his purse. And Gatti's wife's purse as well :Laugh102::Laugh102::Laugh102::Laugh102:

As TFK Alluded to, it Became PART of Who Frank Cappucino was...WHENEVER REED Heard the Name or Thought of the Dude, Ed Derian's Voice & Enunciation IMMEDIATELY Sprang to Mind... REED:hammert:
did you have a bad experience with Italians or something? Everything you say is a ethnic insult about them..non stop 24 7
True story... 2002 ...less than a month after Gatti vs Ward I, I'm at the Boxing Hall of Fame ceremony (the weekend of Tyson-Lemmon)... Cappuccino is there and treated like a celebrity since he was the ref in Gatti-Ward I. I'm talking at Terry Norris (I say at because he could barely put a sentence together) Cappuccino comes over and starts talking to me. He's going on as if we'd known each other for years. I have no idea who he thought I was. As the day went on if he spotted me he'd come over and start the exact same conversation as the last time damn near word for word. Ever since then when I heard guys going on about him understanding what was going on between Gatti and Ward that's why he let them fight I always laugh. He didn't have a clue. His mind was somewhere else. Go back and watch that fight. Dude has a blank stare in portions of that fight. That reminds me. Somewhere I have an audio tape of an interview I did with Alexis Arguello (RIP). I have to find that.
