Sure Lewis had a good uppercut if you let him hold you. But no holding, Tyson's was far better, one of the best uppercuts ever.
I think Tyson's uppercut was slightly better, and whilst Lewis did hold and throw it on more than one occasion, he was good enough to do it without resorting to that
Rubbish! I'm one of the biggest Tyson supporters in history! Anyway, being objective, how can you expect a 5'10", 220lb guy with a 71" armspan to possibly have a better uppercut than 6'5", 250lb guy with an 84" reach? Lewis' uppercut was ferocious! He was physically a much bigger and stronger guy than Tyson with much bigger hands and fists. Bigger man...bigger punch.

only slightly? I favor Frazier heavily just because of what you mentioned...i think the amount of times you throw it should count for something..Frazier probably unleashed the left hook what 5 to 6 times more then Tyson's 1 time....and opponents knew what was coming and yet still it was deadly...and if frazier had the varied arsenal of punches that tyson had in addition to retaining his left origina left hook Frazier finishes his career undefeated and with only knockouts.
It still surprises me that Vitali didn't go down from that shot, or even wobble, it was thrown perfectly with all of Lewis' weight behind it
...and carried on fighting. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it hurt but he wasn't on the verge of going down or anything.
Yeah, I mean, Vitali was hurt, wanted to quit, surprised people missed it really, warning signs were there, he didn't throw a punch back for around 1 second after that uppercut. He was definitely hurt and wanted to quit.
Evander Holyfield on Riddick Bowe vs. Lemmon Lewis: H olyfield said when asked to confirm or deny his original projection of the Lewis-Bowe fight that never happened. “Lennox Lewis is a very strong guy but he just held you when he got on the inside. That’s it. Riddick Bowe, he’d punch you when you got in tight. Lennox would try to hit you with one shot and if he hit you with that shot, he’d try to hit you with another one. But if he missed, he’d grab a hold of you and put all his weight on you. Bowe, to me, was a more complete fighter. “I also think Bowe would have been too much for Tyson. Lewis, I don’t believe, wanted to fight Tyson when he was younger. I know Lennox was scared of that Tyson.”
Holyfield of course ignoring that Tyson came up with Step-Aside money for Lewis, so that Tyson could fight a man who was not afraid of him. That man was Bruce Seldon.
He did? I heard it was pretty even, but none of us were there. Besides, they were at very different stages of their careers back then anyway.
I'm just winding Brits up. Both were amateurs around 16 or 17. Tyson obviously turned pro sooner. Also, I'd heard Lemmon got the worst of it...it wasn't even.
That uppercut blew a hole through the bottom of Vitali's upper lip!! :: :: What are you talking about?? It did tremendous damage.
Lewis won that round on all judge's scorecards and Vitali was holding firmly onto Lewis for the duration of the round (after the uppercut).
Holy knows what a pussy Lummox is first hand, better than anyone. The way that big faggot with his "right hand cannon" was back peddling away from cruiserweight Holy behind a pawing jab was fucking disgraceful, one of the most pussyish displays of boxing I've ever seen.
Agreed. But then again, Holyfield was on massive amounts of steroids at that point in his career so no surprise as to why he was able to take punches from guys twice his size. "Evan Fields" was drinking steroids back then. You don't go from 201 lbs to 217 lbs of rock solid muscle under Lee Haney if you aren't juicing like a motherf*cker. Haney to my knowledge was taking equipose which really elevated muscle growth. How did Holyfield grow that much muscle mass onto his cruiserweight frame? He wasn't eating clean. He was taking sh*t.
