This is a good card. I'd love to see Marquardt make a comeback somehow. I don't know if it will actually happen. He was one of my favorite fighters for years. He just hasn't looked good recently. I've been wanting to see Melendez / Alvarez for years. I have to go with the local guy Melendez. I still think he's one of the best in the division. I want Werdum to win. I don't know if he has what it takes to beat Cain, but I don't know how good Cain is these days after the injuries and the 2 year layoff.
Tonight's card kinda sucks, but it's free so I'll watch it. Rothwell / Mitrione should be fun. I'm a big fan of Dan Henderson, historically. He probably shouldn't be headlining events at this point.
Tonights card was supposed to be headlined by Bader-Cormier. Obviously Cormier got the title shot instead and the Hendo fight got bumped up to main event. Boetsch-Henderson could be an entertaining fight.
Werdum has improved greatly over the last few years. He's the best BJJ guy Cain has faced, maybe the best P4P jiu jitsu fighter in MMA. Now he's a dangerous striker too. This is the best fight at heavyweight right now. Better than Cain vs anyone else.
That was a battle between two masively strong fat men. It would suck taking that crazy head kick from someone Jordan's size.
These guys both cut weight to make 265. Shawn Jordan has surprising agility for someone that big and strong. Kenny Florian said he has a 610 pound bench press.
I can't believe how relaxed that kid is on his back. He spent 10 minutes on his back and did more damage than Tavares did. Unbelievable finish
I hadn't heard of Ortega before, but I'm a fan now. Amazing combination of BJJ skills, striking, and pure heart.
I don't know how Medeiros survived so long. He got rocked over and over and kept coming back for more. Dustin Poirier looked outstanding. This is the guy Conor destroyed in under 2 minutes.
That was one of the most satisfying finishes ever. :) Mitrione is such a douchebag. This is one of the best cards of the year in terms of entertainment. Awesome fight after awesome fight after awesome fight.
Just watched the weigh in for UFC 188. Does anyone doubt that Melendez is going run right through Alvarez? They just had to separated at the weigh in. I honestly don't think Alvarez belongs in the cage with Gilbert.
Alvarez is gonna wreck Melendez. If Gil could beat Alvarez, he wouldn't have chickened out of the fight years ago. Sadly, Alvarez is on the downside of his career. He was in his prime when he was fighting for Dream and the early days of Bellator. But he's been through a lot of wars that have taken their toll. Still, he's gonna run through Melendez, who's always been wildly overrated. TFK
Melendez is one of my favorite fighters, so I hope he wins impressively. I thought he was the best lightweight in the world until the Pettis fight. He could get another title shot with a win tomorrow and a win over a top 5 guy.
I can't believe TFK is still hyping Alvarez :: :: Ironically I agree with him that Melendez has always been overrated. He's a decent rendition of a bog standard grinder, not this special beast he's always been hyped as. I knew Pettis would destroy him. But he's clearly better than Alvarez, he fought on pretty even terms with Bendo, who is legit. Cerrone made Alvarez look like a scrub who doesn't really belong in the UFC, I'd be very surprised if Gilbert doesn't win.
