Mayorga wasn't the same fighter after getting beaten by Tito. Pre-Tito he had incredible punch resistance, after Tito his chin was like an egg. A bad beating sometimes does that to fighters. Post Tarver Roy Jones had a Bruce Seldon chin. Fernando Vargas' punch resistance after Tito was pretty bad too.

Mayorga at the time he faced Tito DID have a rock solid chin.

The Wright fight doesn't count. Tito was done and Winky was on PEDs.

 

Of course he wasn't done. That's Tito nuthugger bullshit, he just made to look like a scrub against a much better boxer.

Trinidad beats Wright at 154 in 2000. 2005? Irrelevant when judging Trinidad as a fighter.

 

I don't agree. To me, impressive in the Tito fight is not the three shots he gave but the beating he took from the third round onwards. I rewatched it recently and it was a damn massacre which Mayorga took.

I don't know, maybe that fight broke down his chin, or maybe he was able to see all those punches or something but he took a much better punch there than later in his career. In that bout he seemed superhuman

 

As if :: He got utterly clowned, he didn't win a minute of every round. He was the same fighter he'd always been, just fighting a guy his own size who knew how to box.

No way. Roy was 20 pounds heavier than Trinidad in 2000, and a much better fighter anyway.

Tito/Wright at 154 in 2000 is an 8-4 type decision win for Trinidad.

 

The fight is exactly the same, Wright wins 12-0. They were both basically the same fighters in 2000, just a bit lighter and younger.
