Although the weight stuff is annoying and stupid, it's a great matchup and I can't wait.

He's on cottos level as far as leverage and say so. It's just amusing to me that he wanted a heavier weight. The guy can't hide at 154 forever

If they are fighting for Cotto's belt, they dont have the same leverage.

Great fight. Can't wait. Don't care what the weight is. Acid test for Alvarez....and he'll pass it.

    Alvarez by late TKO

These latin boys fear the Mongol Chieftain.............if Golovkin was allowed to fight Canelo, in 100 years 90% of Mexicans would be able to trace their lineage right back to Genghis Khan.

Are you being sarcastic? This fight was NEVER going to happen in NYC. I didn't believe it for a second.

For one, Canelo's fan base is larger than Cotto's. Secondly, Vegas is simply far more conducive to hosting a huge fight than NYC.

I mean, what's the last HUGE fight that took place in NYC?

I would say Tito-Hopkins, but still, we're talking 14-16 years since the last huge fight at the Garden.

    Agreed, not one bit.

Oh, and Cotto by KO, one fat ginger leg shaking left hook after another.

As for the official prediction, I agree with Sly. At this point I'm picking Canelo by late stoppage.

I lean towards Cotto on points but he'll have to be pretty convincing with a pro Mexican crowd. I think we can expect GGG to be sitting at ringside waiting to hear the post fight interview.

If Alvarez were to dominate and stop Cotto, a GGG fight would be huge.

Outside of Mexican fans I don't know that it would be any bigger if Cotto was the one to dominate. I think it's doubtful either guy dominates the fight unless somebody gets hurt bad early.

Well, IMO, a Cotto-GGG fight would be deemed a mismatch in GGG's favour even if Cotto dominates Alvarez. Cotto is small, fragile and old. But if Alvarez dominates Cotto, Alvarez-GGG woul dbe a more intriguing fight.

It would certainly elevate Mayweather's accomplishment over Alvarez. Wouldn't be enough for the gratist of are times though.

Canelo's passivity is what could cost him here. He gives away a lot of rounds by not doing anything.

However, if he can draw Cotto into a war, he could win via stoppage.

Canelo's gas tank prevents him from engaging in any kind of war

Cotto vs GGG will never happen, win, lose, or draw vs Canelo.

Golovkin is gonna have to move up to 168 to get a big though I'm starting to think he doesn't want any of Ward.

Cotto's brother, who isn't a big puncher, put Canelo on queer street in the first round. If that was Miguel it would have ended there. Look at it on the 1:30mn mark.
