    Sure it Does...

It's the Lineal Middleweight Championship of the World...That STILL Means Something...Cotto HAS it, Canelo (& Many Others) WANTS It...

Bringing up Canelo vs little Cotto is pretty irrelevant at this point. Canelo was what in that fight? 19? He's obviously filled out physically since then, and has proven to have a solid chin. Can Miggy hurt him if he catches him with that hook? Absolutely. But Miggy better be worried about his own chin as well. We all Cotto's chin isn't that dependable.

I think his chin is pretty fucking dependable.

Yeah but Canelo can indeed hurt Cotto. I think he has the edge in power here. His problem is that he doesn't work enough and loses to many rounds as a result. That's what I think may end up costing him in this fight.

  5. word.

I was pretty much going to say the exact thing.

  6. You think wrong.

Cotto can take 1 shot fine, there just seems to be a limit to how much punishment he can take in a fight.

That won't be an issue with Canelo - his patient style, shit stamina, and fat little ginger legs.

  8. Miguel is fragile.

Right, but in the manner I described. He is not glass chinned, he can absorb single hard shots, his fragility more relates to accumulated punishment.

Based on what? He has taken hard shots from some of the hardest punchers any didnt go down. Has been on the canvas very few times and not from one single shot.
He can recover pretty damn good. I wouldnt call that chin that isnt dependable.

Cotto's issue has always been stamina.

I think Cotto has a good chin. Not great but good enough. 8/10 IMO.

I'd say Cotto has a decent chin. Nothing to write home about. There's no mistaking he can be hurt when hit hard enough or often enough.

Canelo isn't a puncher on the level of a Hearns or even a Trinidad. I doubt he gets this done with one shot. What he'll have to do is draw Cotto into a WAR and make his power a factor, but as cdogg pointed out, his stamina might not be good enough to force that kind of a pace even on an older fighter.

Canelo did beat Trout, but it was a debatable decision and he had Trout hurt on more than one occasion and couldn't finish the job. And Cotto has the experience to buy time and survive if he does get into trouble. He also has enough power of his own to keep Canelo honest, unlike Lara and Trout who didn't punch hard enough to keep him at bay.

The question I have, Does Canelo have the killer instinct to finish Cotto off if he gets him in trouble?

We all knew this would be at a catch-weight. It's a massive fight and I'm glad it's going to happen.

Cotto has a suspect chin...Cotto is SOFT.....fuck out of here...Cotto has taken 2 of the most brutal beatings of the last 10-12 years....one time was against a guy fighting with bricks in his fist...and the other time was against one of the most potent offensive fighters of all time(who mighta been on peds)..and both time he always went the full twelve...

I agree, he overcame a very hard puncher landing perfect shots in Ricardo Torres. It seems like in boxing you wobble against Earnie Shavers and your chin is suspect.
