Did you know that Henry Cavill (Man of Steel) almost played Superman back in 2004? He did a screen test for the ill-fated Superman: Flyby and was so convincing that director McG gave him the role. Unfortunately the project fell apart and when Bryan Singer came onboard he took the plot on a total different direction and decided to let go the unknown 20 year old british actor Cavill to hire Brandon Routh. Reading the plot of 'Superman: Flyby' it was very close to what Snyder & Nolan did with 'Man of Steel' so apparently Nolan & Snyder also were impressed by the young Cavill screen test that he was cast again. Can we say Henry Cavill was destined to play Superman?

Marvel announced the casting of The Walking Dead actor, Jon Bernthal, as Frank Castle aka The Punisher to give Matt Murdock some problems in season 2 of Netflix Daredevil. Bernthal is perfect for this role IMO. And if that wasn't enough: Elektra will be also in Daredevil season 2!

 

Great casting choice.

 

UPDATE:

Jack Huston is no longer attached to play the lead role in the remake. The producers are now looking for another actor to fill the spot. Two names have been mentioned as possible candidates. "Unbroken" Jack O'Connell and the other is 'Mad Max Fury Road' & 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' Nicholas Hoult. I prefer Hoult as he is the younger looking one as the comicbook Eric Draven was like 18 years old.

Marvel has officially announced the selection of 19 year old Tom Holland (The Impossible) as the new Peter Parker/Spiderman. While the studio had apparently chosen Asa Butterfield for the role, apparently his screen tests with Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans lacked the desired chemistry Marvel wanted. Per reports, Tom Holland nailed particularly in the sense of humor department which is essential for Spidey. Holland will first appear in Captain America: Civil War which is currently in production and then will star in a trilogy of Spidey films for Sony which Marvel will produce for them.

Marvel has cast its Elektra for Netflix 'Daredevil' season 2. It is French-Cambodian actress Elodie Yung. But I get the hunch they didn't look too much: Yung ALREADY played Elektra! well, with a different name, but she even had the red costume, double katanas and red bandana...everything was there when she did G.I. Joe Retaliation. I guess for the series they will drop that look (to avoid a lawsuit from Hasbro...ironic isn't it?) and go for a more 'realistic' (and now cliché) leather jacket.

I agree. A beauty like Tomei is wasted on this role. Still the delightful Diane Lane made a believable Martha Kent...so who knows.
