If You're Talking about Ward, he HASN'T Lost a Fight Since he was 9 Years Old, or So... REED:hammert:
I think the winner of Canelo-Cotto can certainly ask for more than 50/50 as they are proven draws. Ward is the bigger test by a lot but he couldn't draw flies if he was covered in shit so that's a tougher argument to make. I don't like catch-weight fights period, but at the very least it should be one or the other. Either take purse parity or leverage the weight. Not both.
Ward a scared bich :kidcool: 50/50 is fair for this fight, an unproven rising star, Vs a proven elite fighter no one gives a fuck about. Gaybox would have to accept less vs Canelo or Cotto obviously. Gaybox thumps Ward at 164 pounds.
Honestly, I doubt it. And I am FAR from a Ward fan. But I think he's a bit too skillful for the smaller Golovkin. If we wanna see Ward get beat, the best chance is at 175 against Kovalev.
That was my first instinct too, but the more I watch Golovkin fight, the more I like his chances. I don't care if he sometimes seems a tad sloppy and hittable against bums, he'll be at the top of his game against Ward, and he is a very skilled fighter, clever, with some of the very best offense in the sport. I know it's a risky pick, but my gut feeling is Ward isn't quite as good as everyone thinks, and Gaybox is extremely good.
Gay box is a more sophisticated fighter than I think some give him credit for. He's not just a banger.
Who is the some? I think pretty much everybody here realizes he's not a simple banger even if they don't necessarily agree on how highly he should be rated.
Are you accusing me of a straw man argument? :: "Some folks want to roll back regulations and give tax credits to corporations for taking jobs overseas."
No. Who is/was suggesting GGG is "just a banger"? You didn't answer the question but bring up a term like "straw man". You can't even answer a question without referring to talking points.
You might be right. I was thinking he even lasted 12 with Kovalev, but Kovvles did elect to box more - so if Gaybox affords him less respect, yeah I could see him stopping Hopkins.
I think GGG might punch too hard for him at this point. Hopkins doesn't have the legs and reflexes to stay away anymore. I could see him lasting 12 if he does his usual survival mode act or fake an injury. Kovalev I think COULD have stopped him had he gone for it more, but he showed Hopkins too much respect.
"Ward wants to fight Golovkin and he wants to fight him next. But it won't happen at 164-pounds. By accepting 168 with Carl Froch and Chavez Jr, but then demanding 164 with Ward - it's their way of saying 'we don't want to fight Andre Ward," the source told BoxingScene.com. http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&opt=printable&id=93803
