Liston wasn't really a mean guy. He was bad, but not mean.

Kovalev has parenting issues. Like he didn't have any parents.

 

Yeah, by all accounts Sonny Liston, despite being involved with the wrong crowd (mafia) was a good hearted guy. His wife said he was an extremely generous, shy, kind hearted guy.

Kov on the other hand, is probably a sociopath.

 

Hearing that from someone who killed a man with his punches is terrifying. Dude got no remorse.

He's mean but controlled. Consider the Hopkins fight. At no point in that fight did he throw caution to the wind. And yet, the shots he was landing, particularly in the final rounds, seemed really violent I thought.

 

Kovalev seems kind of demented. More sadistic than your average mean, sadistic fighter. In the Roberto Duran, Terry Norris mode where he seemed to really relish and enjoy causing pain to opponents to the point where it probably gives him a hard-on

Apparently, Kovalev is negotiating with Artur Beterbiev for a fight in Russia that would be televised by HBO (Haymon who owns Beterbiev's rights is supposedly ok with that).

A Russian Orthodox versus a Chechen Muslim, Irish will love that!

Kathy Duva approached Yvon Michel (who had Haymon's benediction) to set up a fight in Russia and, if the conditions are ok, he's alright with that. I feel it's a tad too early in Beterbiev's career but his camp is confident because Beterbiev beat Kovalev twice during their amateur career. Pro isn't the same but Beterbiev is a pretty big puncher himself. Potential fireworks in this fight!

Stupid, stupid fight if it happens this early. Beterbiev should go mandatory on Adonis and look for a superfight against Kovalev.

 

I don't care what happened in the amateurs, Kov will fuck Beterbiev up at this point. Beterbiev is far less fluid than Kov, and a gets hit a lot more. BUT, it's a fight I can't wait to see. Kov HATES Beterbiev.
