Im saying berto is not a punk. he is a legitimate tough guy who fights with heart and has absorbed a lot of punishment in fights. He has been KOd once in his career, in the last round of a war, these are facts. mayweather jr may stop him but its hardly the most probable outcome. I can guarantee mayweather jr by decision is going to be lower odds than by stoppage.

I see Neil's point, in response to Xplosive's assertion that Floyd should stop him in 8 rounds, I don't recall ever seeing Berto get stopped. Now that's not to say that it's a good fight for Floyd....it isn't....but it's a distance fight most likely. The issue is whether or not Floyd dominates him.

 

Who called him a pussy? What does his heart have to do with it? He has a mediocre chin, and one of the worst defenses EVER.

If Floyd puts his foot on the gas, he WILL stop him.

 

berto will get beatdown for sure, but i think he will probably last the distance.

 

It's possible at this point. A younger Floyd, who was quicker on the trigger and had more killer instinct, would have definitely stopped Berto.

not sure why khan didnt get picked. obviously he is a tougher fight than berto. i just dont think he is necessarily a more entertaining fight against mayweather jr. nor am I sure he'd have made many fans decide to buy the PPV instead. Those who are going to buy this PPV would buy it against any opponent basically. Stephen Espinoza claimed the only other available opponent for september 12 was brook, who is not well known in the US. thurman had a hand injury.

 

Sounds like a bullshit excuse to me, because Berto is no better known in the US than Brook is.

That simply comes down to Brook being a better fighter than Berto, and posing a tougher fight for Floyd than Berto.

Anyway, what IS redeeming is at least the undercard is good. If I do end up ordering the fight, it'll be because there's a solid undercard.

Had the undercard been poor, I would have said HELL NO to ordering.

 

clearly he is a more difficult fight than berto at this point. does he bring anything to the table as far as PPV sales? i doubt it, i have only seen the guy fight twice. Berto has fought on HBO/Showtime at least a dozen times.

 

Berto has never been known by the mainstream.

I have a few friends who are hardcore fans - they obviously know who Berto is. But they ALSO know who Brook is.

The rest of my friends are casual fans, and they had no clue who Berto was before Floyd picking him.

At least Brook would have brought over a heavy fan base from the UK.
