Is coming on February 2016. I am crossing my fingers that it turns out to be as entertaining as the trailer, especially while breaking the fourth wall.

I know you can't stand Reynolds, but the character of Deadpool is awesome. This has the potential to be very entertaining if done well.

 

I'll watch it, but it doesn't excite me. I heard Fox wants to create some sort of expanded universe like marvel has done.

 

They had plans for a mega team-up of the X-Men and Fantastic Four. With FF bombing and being the critical punching bag it became, those plans might be altered or scrapped. Deadpool and Gambit are characters that originated in the X-Men comic books, so is a no-brainer that they will show up in one of their films. Since Fox still owns the Fantastic Four rights, they can put the FF villains like Galactus or Doctor Doom along with other characters like Namor or the Silver Surfer in one of the X-Men films.

 

I think Deadpool is where Marvel meets it's 'STOP' sign.
Financially, anyway.

Rated R. Is this a first for Marvel? If so, any ideas on how much this is going to gross? IMO, based on the correct marketing, it being a Marvel movie and with Reynolds in it....sub-$100 mill?

Sure, the fanboys have been wanting this fir ages but hat doesn't equate 'success'.

This is not a Marvel Studios movie. It is a Fox film. 'R' rated is not new for a 'Marvel' adaptation. The 'Blade' trilogy was 'R' rated and was pretty successful, plus the current Netflix 'Daredevil' has been a hit despite (or because of) its crude mature context.

 

Okay, so it's a comic-book-genre-based-movie with an 'R' rating.
Fox, Marvel, whoever - so what?

Unless it's got an 'A'-list star who can carry a movie on his own, it's not going to make much (comparatively speaking).
Snipes was on a roll when he made 'Blade' and it never got anywhere near 100 mill.
Reynolds, who is a big 'name' still cannot carry a movie on his own...and what's the audience that knows who 'Deadpool' is? :dunno:

'Daredevil' - that's TV, dude....this is mega-bux-movies: big difference.

Could the failure of FF lead to Marvel/Disney regaining it's rights?

 

No, unless Fox sells the rights back to them or doesn't do anything with the property in a span of 10 years and then Marvel will re-own the rights like it happened with Daredevil. A Fox executive denied rumours of the Studio giving back the FF rights to Marvel. I think they are still waiting to see how the film performs in China. If by any chance it ends its Chinese run with $70 million, it will recoup its investment!

reshoots are common in movie productions today. Don't mean a thing, unless it is an Eric Stolz-Back to the Future scenario.

 

All people are going on about is this throwaway line of 'Pansexual'

And now he's being termed: 'World's First-Ever Pansexual SuperHero'

Like the general public either a) are supposed to know what that even means or b) give a fuck
