Rapper's Delight: Compton repeats win at the box office

It was no surprise to no one that Straight Out of Condom took the top spot at box office in its second outing with $26.7 million and now has grossed $111.4 million domestically. The Universal Pictures Hip-Hop drama will continue performing well against weak new releases like Sinister 2 which disappointed in its third spot debut with $10.6 million, which is lower than the first entry in the franchise that debuted with $18 million a few years ago.

Tom Cruise is still holding and not letting go that box office door as MI: Rash Notion remained in the second spot with $11.7 million.

Hitman: Agent 47 bombed in the 4th spot with $8.7 million which is lower than 2007 'Hitman' which opened to $13.1 million.

Also crash and burning on its debut is American Ultra which landed on the 6th spot with $5.5 million. The studio did not disclosed the budget for this now straight to DVD movie, but I am sure that the salaries alone of its stars Jessie Eisenberg & Kristen Steward was more than what the film grossed. These two actors are box office poison if no one has noticed yet. Their prior joint project Adventureland also bombed with $5.6 million debut.

In other news Terminator Genysis opens tomorrow in China. It will be interesting to see how it performs there as its fate as a break even or bomb depends on how it does there.

It might be the best movie of the year and it still doesn't appeal to me. Maybe when is on free streaming DVD quality and I have some weird brain short circuit I might try to watch it.

The film registered a whooping $27.4 million in just ONE DAY making it the just the fourth biggest opening day in China's box office history. That means that this turkey might finish its Chinese run with close to $200 million turning the domestic bomb into a worldwide solid hit.
