No he will not. The days of guys becoming household superstars are over. The way Hollywood makes films these days is just too inconsistent to make anybody stay on top for long. Look at all the guys who came through that were supposed to be the next big thing and none of them were able to do it. Ryan Gosaling, Michael Fassbender, Tom Hardy, just to name a few. Those guys are all very well known and good to great actors but I wouldn't call any of them household name superstars. Right now the closest guy to actually making it is probably Chris Pratt, and he is just one shitty movie away from losing it as well.

I think the problem is Hollywood doesn't seem to allow guys to really put their own personality into their characters anymore the way old guys like Cruise, Denzel, Downy Jr, Stallone, etc used to do. Either that or all the new guys lack interesting personalities to begin with.

 

Movies are not long star driven like they used to be, BUT some actors still become superstars like Chris Pratt that you already mentioned, Jennifer Lawrence, Melissa McCarthy, Amy Schumer just recently, Kevin Hart, Chris Hensworth etc.

 

Chris Hensworth ain't no superstar and neither is Jennifer Lawrence. Lawrence, much like Kristen Stewart (and every other actor) from the Twilight series were all only successful because of the franchise they were associated with, not the other way around. Stewart hasn't been able to bring in any fans to other films she was in and that includes Snow White and the Huntsman a film where she teamed up with Chris Hemsworth and still came away with a flop.

As for Hemsworth three of the films he's been attached to lead, Rush, Red Dawn and Black Hat all flopped. Yes the Thor films did well but once again that had more to do with the franchise as it's pretty obvious Hemsworth isn't a big draw on his own. With Mcarthy, Pratt and Schumer it is too soon to say they're superstars. Mcarthy already seems to have faded a bit. Schumer is the next big thing in comedy right now and here's hoping she'll stay on top because I personally like her, same with Pratt. Only one I'll give you far as being a superstar is Kevin Hart. Although he's had a couple duds lately, he is definitely still big enough to be considered a superstar.

 

But as Anthony said a) who speaks it and b) does have a point and purpose? :dunno:

 

I think you are confusing 'superstar' (a well known celebrity be an actor or musician) with 'box office draw' . Hemsworth was chosen as 'the sexiest man alive' last year, his photos has high profile in many magazines & websites, etc etc. He is well known worldwide. As for Lawrence...are you out of your mind?? right now there is no bigger star than JLaw! She won an Oscar for Best Actress and has been nominated THREE TIMES, more than many older actors have in their entire careers! And the media & fans just can't get enough of her!

Another example: Madonna & JLo: these ladies haven't had a hit album or hit movie in more than a decade. They still rest on the laurels of past achievements and they are still superstars.
