Funny how tito's punches hurt Reid so bad even when he blocked them. Must have been some really heavy shots from tito. Real heavy.

The hook went around the glove and only partially landed but Tito had his feet under him and he committed to it. When a guy with his build and stance wings a hook like that it's usually bad business.

Are you sure? Reid was never hurt in that fight until round 7 when that left hook got through and then after that he wasn't able to block anything. Just took a pillar to post beating.

From round 1 through 6, he blocked a lot of shots, never seemed hurt and was in control for much of everything until the 7th round.

Some of the fights I loved that haven't been mentioned....

The 1st Carbajal vs Chiquita fight was great drama.

Holyfield vs Cooper because it was sooo close to being a Holy Shit moment.

Kevin Kelly vs Troy Dorsey. Nonstop punches.

Benn vs McClellen in spite of the tragic aftermath. My anticipation for that fight was about as high as it was for any fight I have seen because you knew it was gonna be a war.

Jorge Paez vs Tracy Spann, because Spann was a local fighter who grew up not far from me, and Paez was one of my favorites at the time.

Tommy Morrison vs Razor Ruddock, if only for the knockdown of Ruddock.

Imamu Mayfield vs Uriah Grant. I used to go see the club fights at the Unkranian Center not far from where I lived, and Mayfield was the up and coming local fighter who headlined a lot of the shows. So to see someone who I saw fight live several times on his way up go out and win a World Title was pretty cool.

Cool list. Does Benn-McClellan still have rewatch value for you though? I remember watching it live as it was on terrestrial TV at the time and the atmosphere was incredible. Amazing fight but I still find it tough to watch back because of what happened.

Those shots were hurting him. Even before the left-hook that short circuited him and then he blew a lugy out of his nose and giggled at how fucked up he was by the shot.

By the way, does anyone know if Reid has a deviated septum? Sure seemed like it the way he blew that snot out so clean after the knock down.

I remember this well. I was a freshman in high school and I had some friends over at the house. Crazy night, great performance by Trinidad.

    Just watched it:

    1. Zulu socks
    2. Man tito missed with a lot of hooks
    3. Tito obviously had plenty of tape for this one

 If that's the case, then Margarito had the wrong hand wraps. Assuming he was wrapping illegally for years, how many devastating KOs did he score??? :dunno:

He was cheating when he knocked out Miguel Cotto and Kermit Cintron. Kermit might not have been an all time great, but he was a force in the welterweight division until he got hit by a guy with concrete in his gloves.

    Tito and that goddamn tape...

Woulda had Paul Spadafora power, if not for that fuckin tape...

  17. I've watched Tito-Vargas and Barrera-Hamed more than any other fight in my collection

    After that it's Mayweather-Gatti, Mayweather-Hatton, Jones-Hall, Hagler-Hearns, Leonard-Hearns 1

Then any Tyson fight pre-Holyfield 1

Marg's plaster wraps were obviously less dangerous then Tito's illegal wraps

I like rewatching Maussa VS Harris. Harris was getting the big hype. Commentary was hilarious - try getting a hold of the UK version.

Alex Arthur VS Michael Gomez is one I rewatching a lot.

Lewis VS Vitali was also a fight I really enjoyed.

+1 for cotto VS Torres. Torres had him all over the place a few times.

Good call on Arthur-Gomez, I'd forgotten about that one. Awesome fight.

    That tape was lethal, man.

It came from a special store in Cupey Alto.

Had Tito sold that tape to Juan Diaz, the Baby Heffer coulda been a HOFmer.

  24. puerto rock

Yep. Even Paulie woulda been a lethal puncher with that tape.

We'd be talking right now about his knock out wins over Cotto, Hatton, Khan, Diaz, Broner, and Porter.

  25. Xplosive

    Xplosive X-MOD Bad Motherfucker

With Tito's tape, they'd have called him Paulie Marciano.

Forgot about maussa/harris. Good call. Maussa had those slow but heavy shots. Strangely effective fighter.

  27. Xplosive

    Xplosive X-MOD Bad Motherfucker

Maussa was a bum. Like a homeless man's Mayorga.

Hatton ran him over in his very next fight.

Double is weird. Shits on elite fighters and praises bums.

You're weird. Because of fans like you we are subjected to one mismatch after another. You'd rather watch a Harlem globe trotter smack down than an actual competitive contest.

I just re watched marg-cotto for the first time and I still say wraps didn't effect the outcome. Marg was pushing him to the ropes from the opening bell without even touching him. I remember thinking watching it when it happened "what is this stubby motherfucker think he's doing? If he doesn't hurt marg or bust him up he's going to get stopped."

  30. Double L

    Double L Book Reader

I do not see how you can possibly draw the conclusion that wraps had no impact from watching the fight.
