I think Tito might have similarities to today's Kovalev. They are both contenders for p4p #1 while undefeated, both offensive forces. Tito had Kryptonite styles; Kovalev might.

I agree. Kovalev has good boxing skills to go along with that power. Good use of the jab to set up the offense, punch variety, accuracy, etc.

Hope we see Kovalev vs Ward next year.

Tito looks really 1-dimensional in there, regardless of opponent. He was quick and had awesome power, and most importantly a height/reach advantage. But he couldn't box, so against any defensive fighter that isn't a midget he gets beat.

Trinidad destroys any version of Pac. Pac looked great against plodding inaccurate punchers that were more heavy handed than real punchers. Manny will take clean shots like he did against Cotto and he'll eventually take a catnap like he did against Marquez. Simply put, he's a little guy that's not good enough to not get hit at all.

Tito and Kov are literally NOTHING alike stylewise. Both big punchers is the only similarity.

I concur with this. Historically speaking and P4P, Pac is the greater/more talented fighter, but Tito would have killed him at 147.

If you think about it, Trinidad never lost to a smaller man.

I wouldn't take Pac over any of the 90s welterweights much less the 80s welterweights.

I never said he was a Great Boxer I think he was a very good Boxer/Puncher in his prime. I won't make any excuses for the man but the people that beat him fought a near perfect fight. I don't pay much attention to his losses after his extended layoff's (Wright & Roy Jones).

I hadn't watched Tito for a while so I'll say that he had faster hands than I'd remembered but he didn't strike me as that great a boxer.

Tito had decent handspeed. Nothing special but he was far from slow. Watching him string punches together was a thing of beauty.

He was a decent boxer, but he had awkward footwork which made him appear to be a bad boxer. But he was better than given credit for. He had a good jab and a tremendous punching repertoire. He was also not as hittable as some folk here try to suggest. He often slipped punches very well and countered effectively. A prime example of this was the FIRST knockdown in the vargas fight. He had slipped the Vargas Jab and immediately fired the left hook, stunning Vargas and leading to the KD. A face-first limited brawler couldn't do that to a boxer of Vargas' quality.

Trinidad had faster hands than Corrales.

    Agreed.

He also had faster hands than Cotto, who was able to hit Manny rather easily within those first 5 rounds before he attempted to NOT go out on his shield.

He had a 7 inch height advantage. Lol. He's just walking around hitting the little fellow before he can hit him. And he didn't get hit much.

Very serious. When did Chico suddenly become prime Tyson? He had fast hands, especially with the hook, but Tito threw faster combos and had a comparable hook speed.

Cotto's handspeed was never much. Cotto always had accuracy and timing, but his handspeed was never more than okay. Trinidad had much faster hands than Cotto.

Corralled depended on being able generate power from awkward angles with all the leverage from his height and T. rex arms. He had really shitty footwork.

Here is another good fight in Tito's prime. Here is also shows decent footwork and hand-speed.

Corrales had some nice hand speed on him, but yeah Trinidad was definitely faster. He was quicker on the trigger, and also when he put shots together.

Since when did being faster than Tito mean you were a prime Tyson?

Saying Tito had faster hands than Chico is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read on this forum.

Tito was more deliberate so he may look a little slower at times, but when he opened up he was faster, more accurate and a harder puncher p4p than Corrales.

Did you see Chico vs. frietas? Chico was hitting wind until frietas got tired. Diego wasnt a fast puncher.
