Sure but the resume of opponent is POOR C level type of shit....and ANDRE WARD...is so willing to fight...
That last body shot had him doubled over. He was gone in a few more seconds. This is an early stoppage in the same way Kov-Pascal was. Both fights were all academic.
Shit, I'd like to see Golovkin vs Ward since SOG wants no parts of Kovalev. But Ward will probably avoid that too.
My opinion hasn't changed. I still think Ward is too big for Golov. Golov is gonna be a HUGE favorite over the Canelo-Cotto winner though. I struggle to see how either one of those midgets are competitive. Canelo and Cotto are even shorter than Lemieux.
Neither Cotto or Canelo stand a chance against this monster...however either would put up a better fight than Lemieux did tonight. DL fought like a scared cunt until he realized that his only chance of victory was to risk being knocked out and just go for it and by that time he was too beat up to do anything. Disappointing fight...but GGG is the goods.
Word, poor stoppage...but it wouldn't have made a difference. GGG was going to get the stoppage in the next round or two anyway.
By the way I'm glad Lederman mentioned the hair of Lemieux, I was thinking the same thing. It was bothering him from round one. Silly boy. Cool looking hairstyle by not practical for fighting.
I figure Ward would beat Golovkin as well. But we'll see if he faces him. Can't see Cotto or even Canelo taking the fight. Maybe one of the other young guys at 154 lbs moves up to 160. I wouldn't mind seeing him knock out that fraud Quillin.
Gonzales looks like a cross between Eder Jofre and Felix Trinidad. Oh, and Jesus. Viloria caught him with some big shots but the Little Chocolate Tito was relentless and accurate. I don't care how big they are, Viloria is tough. I didn't have a problem at all with the Lemoo stoppage. He was taking a sustained beating and GGG was wslking through the occasional shots he landed.
To me, a "poor stoppage" is a competitive fight in which one guy suddenly gets hurt, and the fight is stopped. This was a one sided beating, and Golov had just landed a left to the ribs which had Lemeiux doubled over in pain and Golov was about to have a free shot on him in the corner. It wasn't a "poor stoppage". We just wanted to see a brutal ending. But we sometimes forget that it's not a ref's job to always ensure us a brutal ending. It's his job to protect a fighter's safety.

Agreed. It is obvious that the ref was watching the whole fight as he should, not just the individual situation. At that point Lemieux wasn't in that big of a danger but he had been taking a terrible beating for seven rounds. In another fight in the same evening we saw where that can lead to (even though there were no rabbit punches here) Is GGG still unproven, I am not sure. This was the fourth top-10 contender he beat (ranked #4) and in no fight in seven years has he lost more than one round, none of the fights has been a fight at all. Still, unless he changes division we don't know how good he really is since there is no measuring stick for him at the moment
