It really should be clear to all boxing fans now that the dust has settled, that PBF was TERRIFIED of the DLH-Hatton-period Manny...

30 years from now history will reflect mayweather jr dominated the guy when pacquaio was still considered among the top 5 pound for pound on the planet.

Do you think that PBF dominated Manny?
How do u think PBF will be remembered in 30?
-Up there with SRL/ Hearns/ Hagler?
    -Up there with SRR?
-Up there with DLH/ SSM/ Tito?
Personally, I think he will be remembered as an incredibly skilled, smart (inside the ring) boxer, who was also extremely risk-averse, petulant, childish, & lacked the kind of courage historically displayed by the ATG fighters through the ages.

Nah. Both guys were superstars...it was nearly impossible to determine who would have been the "A" side of the fight. That doesn't happen often. So you had two huge egos trying to negotiate and when that happens the fight doesn't happen.

Leonard was able to get the fights with Duran because Ray was the A list star and Duran just wanted to fight him to get sumadat financial action and stardom..so easy to make that fight. When Leonard fought Hearns...again Leonard was the bigger star so easier to make that fight. Most superfights had a definite A side and a B side.

However in the case of Floyd-Pacquiao....the reason why the fight was so big was because they were BOTH legitimate superstars and neither wanted to cede to the demands of the other.

Boxing fight never have respect for contemporary fighters, in terms of all time status....well very few anyway. "PBF" or "FMM" will be spoken of in the same breath as SRR in 30 years...assuming he doesn't fight again.

One was moving goalposts, & making unprecedented demands, which smacked of a simultaneous avoid & discredit strategy.

Can't imagine it. PBF skill-wise, probably deserves to be mentioned alongside anyone. The difference comes down to character/ courage. Overall, he didn't display the heart, or desire. Posturing was more of a priority than taking on the greatest challenges available in order to prove he was truly great.

Floyd will be talked about as an All TIME GREAT..TOP 20-30 all time.....15-30 years from now..most people will forget his nitpicking....and his ducking of Pacquiao for YEARS...and YEARS...but HE WILL NEVER be spoken in the same breath as SRR...or Leonard...or Duran...or ALI...

I basically agree. I think joe public will largely forget his nitpicking & fear of Manny, but there will be a residual impression. Boxing fans will remember though.

I suspect that CASUALS will always remember Floyd as a top 5 all time great. But casuals also think that Tyson is a top 5 all time great, sooooo.... who gives a flying fuck?

BOXING FANS will remember that Floyd wasn't in the same greatness league as Leonard, Robinson, Duran, Ali, ect...

And REAL boxing fans will know that wasn't as great as Whitaker either.

As I just said, Joe Public thinks that Tyson is the greatest fighter who ever lived. LOVE Mike, but we all know he isn't a top 10 atg, P4P.

Joe Public's opinion is completely irrelevant, as they know literally NOTHING about the sport.

All of us informed fans will never consider Floyd a top 5-10 atg.
