So if and when he finally takes on kovalev, should he get no credit for taking on a tough opponent? You know because it is all Roc Nation just telling ward who to fight?

  5. I'll give you that. Very good point. It's the body shots of GGG that may do Floyd in. A Full fledged Middleweight drilling hooks to the body of a blown up lightweight could be very damaging indeed.

  6. If the fight happens and Floyd wins I'll hold you to this. ;)

  7. The Hatton - Canelo Floyd has more than a prayer of beating the GGG. Size can be overcome if the talent (and style) gap is big enough. The history of boxing has proved this over and over again.

Pacquiao style is better suited to beat GGG....if he wasn't soooo much smaller...

Reed you realize all the guys you named aside from groves aren't even possible foes. All with haymon and mayweather jr

True, but Let's NOT Pretend this is a Roy-Ruiz or Pac-Margarito Sized Talent/Style Gap we're Talking About...Plus, Even in Those Instances, Roy and Manny were THREATS to Hurt the Bigger Man, Which Floyd WOULD NOT Be...

REED Knows Floyd BEATING GGG is your Wet Dream, Brother Sly, but there's NOfuckingCHANCE of it Happening NOR Of Floyd Actually Winning, if it Did...

The talent gap isn't big enough. In fact, Golovkin is MORE talented than the 2015 version of Floyd.

Golov would not only be the biggest Floyd opponent, but the BEST Floyd opponent as well. That's what you don't get.

Golov is P4P better than Corrales, Castillo, Hatton, old Oscar, ect..

This is not Roy vs Ruiz here. Golov is EXTREMELY talented. He's MORE talented at this point than a 39 year old Floyd.

You don't see Golov struggling with fighters the level of Maidana.

  12. You and REED are coming back with good points, I'll give you that. I appreciated it when people attempt to refute my positions with good sound logic rather than "you're just a nuthugger...and Floyd's a showboating boring cunt etc"

I agree that GGG is extremely talented and that it's probable that the 2015 version of Floyd isn't talented enough vis a vis GGG to overcome the size gap. I do, however think that the Prime Welterweight Mayweather would have been talented enough to do it.

Theres no version of Floyd that could have beaten Golov, unless we're talking P4P.

PRIME Floyd struggled with washed up Oscar.

  14. 1: Oscar wasn't washed up and always had the style to trouble Floyd
2: Oscar would have given GGG a very hard fight if not won a close decision....he was certainly a more formidable opponent than any GGG has faced to date
    3. Floyd didn't struggle...he won at least 8 rounds.
    4. Styles makes fights

But anyway...I think we've exhausted this particular topic.

    1. Oscar was washed up...NOT DEAD on his feet washed up...but washed up.
    2. De La Hoya couldn't beat Felix Sturm or whatever his name...don't bring up the FIX(Hopkins fight)..

I stopped reading once you said Oscar could have beaten Golov.

Oscar maxed out at 154. He was absolute SHIT at 160. Golov would have executed Oscar.

Oscar was never much at 160 lbs. He lost to both Felix Sturm and Bernard Hopkins.

Oscar was excellent in his day, but he was no middleweight.

Only difference is Hopkins KO'd him with a phantom body shot. Golov would KO him with a real one.

That Hopkins-De La Hoya fight was the definition of a fix.

A true con job unfolded before our very eyes. I regret so much paying for that shit.

Oscar wouldn't have the chance to fake a body shot against Triple G.

Hopkins smiles in the corner before coming out for the 9th and says "This is my round."

Fisher screams moments before it happens "Body shot! Body shot!"

The replay shows that Hop hits him with an OPEN FUCKIN GLOVE and Oscar writhes around on the ground in pain for 10 seconds, then rises like nothing happened.

Few weeks later, they're in business together.

    Nope, NOTHING suspicious about that....

    Yep. Pretty much.

Except I think it was Naazim who was the one screaming out "body shot! body shot!" before it happened.

I remember that shit till this day. Hopkins starts to land some clean shots, chasing Oscar around the ring. Then he gets inside on him and lands what appear to be some inconsequential punches and ALL OF A SUDDEN Oscar is down! and writhing in pain.

I was frozen like WTF just happened? Then you see the "punch" that put Oscar down... It looked to me like Hopkins WRIST was what made contact with the side of De La Hoya's belt and he just goes down.

They fooled us all into thinking this was the new Leonard-Hagler fight.

  24. Yup. Leonard-Hagler my ass.

I don't think it was fixed, per se, I just think that Oscar knew he was getting beaten up and would have rather faked a body shot KO than get beaten down and stopped a couple rounds later.

Anyway....of course GGG batters an old De La Hoya. ;)

Dela may have even gotten away with it except for his horrible over-acting - thumping the ground, swearing, crying, writhing and rolling - I mean come on.

  26. Xplosive

    Xplosive X-MOD Bad Motherfucker

    Exactly. It was HORRIBLE over-acting.

Replay clearly shows that Hopkins hit him with a fuckin partially open glove. Yet HBO (probably in on it), acted like it was as devastating a body shot as the one Roy landed on Hill.

TOTAL sham and con of a fight.
