Preacher - Trailer/Discussion

About fucking time! I wish HBO had adapted it like they were supposed to, but AMC is not a horrible 2nd choice.

Shit.

 

It's a pretty good series. Not that superhero in tights nonsense. You could say it's a rip-off of "Constantine", but it's about a 1000 times better....on the comic book page anyways. Not sure how this will shake out.

 

Never heard of it.

Most of everyone else hasn't heard of it either.

It won't make fuck-all of a 'ripple'...

 

It will have to stand on it's own, just like any other show not based on a comic book character, or regurgitated older source material.

Looks like a homeless man's version of Thomas Jane's Punisher.

 

I bought a couple of comicbook issues a few years ago, but was not terribly impressed by it.

 

That's because you're a bible thumper. The scene in the trailer with the kid asking Preacher to kill his dad was essentially Jesus asking him to kill God.

 

A fockin' priest as a comic-book-hero?
Does he have immense strength? No.
Special-powers? No.

It's a supernatural series, not a superhero book.

His end game is to kill God for being such an asshole, so he has a few tricks up his sleeve.

 

He's more an anti-hero, then a hero.

Don't remember to be honest. It's been over 15 years since I've read it, and was out of my comic book/graphic novel phase for about the last 20 issues of the series, so I have no idea how it ended.

There's lots of conspiracy stuff from what I remember. The Illuminati, Ark of the Covenant, Nazi's, Crusaders, some guy named Ass-Face who unsuccessfully tried to blow his own head off, and now his head looks like an ass, a Paddy vampire ::. It's really far ranging, larger scope type of stuff.

It's why I was hoping HBO would follow through on the series. AMC does lots of good shows, but are known for being notoriously tight with their budget, even with a show like "Walking Dead" that makes them a mint.
