Bradley beats any version of Rios, but against prime/in-shape Rios it goes the distance, and Rios is more competitive. Timmy is past his prime too, but at least Bradley is a gym rat who's always in great condition. And Bradley would have finished him regardless. Bradley has ALWAYS been a good body puncher. He had Provo pissing blood for Christ sake. Rios wasn't handling any good body shots, with or without overrated Atlas.
Rios turned down that fight. Not Brook. EVERY top welterweight in the world would have battered Rios last night. Brook, Thurman, Spence, Porter, Sadam Ali, ALL of them woulda beaten the shit outta Rios.
I disagree with the guy who says Rios quit last night. I thionk he just got the fight beaten out of him and I give that credit to Bradley. Those body shots wore his ass out and in the final round, Rios got pulverized to the body. He knew there was nothing left. I'd like to see Bradley fight Danny Garcia. Teddy Atlas walks uup to Angel Garcia. "Shut up! Shut your fucking mouth right now. YOU! Shut your fucking mouth right now."
Bradley-Garcia would be a good matchup, and it'd be a very winnable fight for Tim as long as he boxes. BUT, it ain't happening. Arum and Haymon won't work together. That means no Bradley-Garcia, no Bradley-Thurman, and no Bradley-Spence. I think the plan is for Bradley vs Ali next. Assuming that he doesn't get a third fight with Manny, which would be a waste of time. Bradley is by far the best fighter Ali has faced, but Ali is a lot more talented than Vargas and Rios. It's a pretty good matchup.
In Between Self Serving MONOLOGUES, Atlas DID Remind Bradley of Sidestepping PRIOR to Throwing Shots, Which is What Transpired on the Initial Bodyshot that Hurt Rios... REED
Fair enough. I'm just not gonna buy into anybody saying that Atlas has IMPROVED him. PRIOR to the KO, he looked like the same ole Bradley. What Atlas CAN do for him is get him to fight how he does when he's at his best, which is on his toes and at angles. That's not something Atlas ADDED. Bradley was on his toes, and utilizing his jab and angles 6 years ago when he whupped up on Peterson. To this DAY that's still Bradley's best performance.
I am still saving judgment on Spence for when he fights someone in the top 50. He has looked great so far fighting mannequins. People here talk about this guy like he's some young 20 year old prodigy. He's damn near 26 and hasn't fought a soul.
The guy Spence beat in his last fight would have DEFINITELY DEFINITELY beaten Rios. Rios would have NOT A PRAYER in Holy Hell at beating Spence. Spence would have every conceivable advantage. Skill, size, power, strength, speed, talent, all in Spence's favor. Rios would be too slow to even test Spence's heart and chin. Spence would have stopped last night's horribly outta shape Rios in 5.
"I want to see Crawford get the Pacquiao fight. He's the next superstar in boxing and I wanna see if he can dethrone the great Manny Pacquiao." - Bradley.
I'm not saying I disagree with that prediction but I want to see Spence at age 26 fight SOMEONE. Get hit back by SOMEONE before I annoint him the next great welterweight like some people on fightbeat have. It could work to his advantage. He's 26 and hasn't been in anything close to a war yet. He's fresh. A lot of guys by age 26 (Morales, Barrera, etc) have had a shitload of long, hard fights by then.
Woulda been pretty sadistic if that was Crawford in there last night with Bam Bam instead of Braddles. My God woulda been an unholy beating.
Yeah, but that's not something you can blame SPENCE for. He wants top opposition. Haymon keeps throwing him in with stepping stones. Meanwhile, Thurman, Porter, and Garcia make up every excuse in the book why they won't fight him. I can't tell you how badly I'm HOPING the winner of Thurman-Porter fights Spence. I won't count on it though. I think what you're more likely to see is the Thurman-Porter winner vs Garcia.
I'm not concerned about Spence's age though. He's 25, that's EXTREMELY young in boxing nowadays. Roy didn't reach the superstar level of the sport until he was 25. Now granted, Roy won a belt at 24 and he was fighting MUCH better opposition on his way up than Spence. Just saying, Spence's age isn't a factor. His style isn't even super dependent on athleticism, meaning he could age very well as long as he stays dedicated. We'll probably see the VERY BEST of Spence between age 27-30.
Thurman-Garcia is a big fight. I'd have no probl if it's made. But I do have a problem if the winner ducks Spence. Thurman in particular, who talks a lot of shit has avoided Spence to no end.
Even though I think we all overrated Thurman, I think he's gonna beat Porter handily and I think he'd most likely beat Garcia, but Danny Gift would have a puncher's chance. Thurman vs Brook is essentially a pick em probably.
Agree 100%. Thurman will beat Porter. I have no doubt. Thurman-Garcia for me is like 55-45 for Thurman. But yes, Gift does have a chance there due to the styles. Want to see Thurman-Brook, but I'd rather see Spence-Thurman.
No, stop hyping this van heerden bum. Hes nothing, he struggled or robbed pretty much every journeyman he fought.
Rios had NOTHING left in the tank last night. NOTHING. I mean, Rios never was Tyson in terms of handspeed, but he was sooooooooooooooooooooooo SLOW and sloppy last night. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Van Heerden beat him.
Yeah, he looked like garbage, but some of that had to do with Bradley speed and movement. DOnt want to credit this Atlas clown or anything, but Bradley movement was brilliant. I think Rios wouldn't have looked that bad against a more available target
Disagreed. I think it was more Rios than Bradley. Bradley is gonna become severely overrated based on Rios shotness. He looked like the same ole Bradley to me. Bradley was always more talented than Rios, and always wins, but had they fought about 3-4 years ago, Rios at least would have had made in interesting at times. Probably buzzed Bradley a few times, but ultimately still got outboxed. But then again, in Bradley's defense, we always did know that Rios was suspect to the body.
What available target could Rios have beaten last night? Provo? Provo woulda hospitalized him last night.
I think he would have gave a decent fight to Provo, but he would have eventually succumbed to provo unrelentless pressure. HE would have land a lot more on him
I was convinced Provo would beat Rios years ago, even before Provo fought Bradley. If Provo can take an almighty ass whuppin from Matty Ice, who's a bigger puncher than Rios ever was, and continue to fight hard, then Bam Bam's power wouldn't have done much to him. There was always talks of who would win in a tournament between Mattyhsse, Provo, Maidana, and Rios. And now looking back, I think it's safe to say Rios was the weakest link of the 4.
I expected an easy Bradley UD, but a ko is pretty shocking. The last time Bradley won by ko was in 2007 vs an obscure Nasser Athumani
Brook BARELY beat Porter. Yet since that fight, you think Porter is garbage and think Brook is near the top of the division. He's beaten Jo Jo Dan and Frankie Gavin since then. Now he's taking out Brandon Rios and Keith Thurman's trash.
