Abrams when he was 22 years old, fresh from college graduation, wrote his very first movie screenplay which was bought by a studio within two weeks and was greenlighted as project that eventually was directed by Mike Nichols and starred Harrison Ford? The screenplay title: Regarding Henry.

No shit! I didn't know that, and I love that movie.

 

Interesting analysis by a pro-movie critic on why 'The Force Awakens' could end up being the best Star Wars ever. One factor is that J.J. Abrams brought back 'Empire Strikes Back' & "Return of The Jedi' screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan to co-write the screenplay with a focus on 'storytelling'. Even if it turns out to be a turkey, I hope that at least it will have better dialogue and acting than the previous six films. Heck, I'm going to watch this film with only ONE expectation: to be entertained. I'll be happy even if at the climax they replace all the actors with Muppets singing 'Afternoon Delight'!

Again, exactly why I said (and argued with others on here - successfully, I might add), that JJ Abrams is the key to all this.

He is 'The Man'. :warning:

J.J. Abrams always admitted he was more a fan of Star Wars than Star Trek even before he started filming the first Trek reboot. Die hard Trekkies hated him immediately and rank his two films at the bottom of the Trek film's lists. They are glad he is doing Star Wars 'so he can screw that franchise like he did to Star Trek'.

LOL that the simplest of this forum got all butthurt and started with the "Racism!!!!" accusations.

First, you dolts need to understand the difference between racism and stereotypical humor. The gap between the two is pretty significant.

Second, you need to actually pay attention to what other members of the board post, and then explain how "I'm" supposedly a racist when others have said, in jest and in seriousness, much worse things than I have ever said.

tv spot trailer #2. while I get a kick at every new scene, honestly I don't want to see anymore footage: I just want to be surprised instead of 'now after this comes that scene of the tie fighters bombing the Jaaku settlement followed by ...'

Luke Skywalker's only in this movie at the end, for like 5-10 mins tops...

 

...or maybe less than that! His appearance could be the movie's 'cliffhanger' for the next episode which J.J. Abrams will NOT direct, but wrote the script; Rian Johnson will direct and Benicio Del Toro has been cast as a villain.

 

I don't get it. He should direct them all.

 

He has churned out a few big budgeted movies for the last 7 or 8 years. The guy needs a break, plus the jury is still out on what will be this film's verdict. Add to that that Disney wants to release yearly Star Wars movies with Abrams executive producing them. His agenda is full.

 

The other reason i can't wait to see this film is that the first extended trailers for X men Apocalypse and Captain America Civil War will be shown in the previews.
