I can't help but see this as a parallel to Naseem Hamed. Hamed seemed invincible at one point and his self confidence/arrogance was through the roof. He meets a competent boxer in his prime and was exposed. His unbeaten record was everything to him and his marketability. After that loss he had one more fight and just faded away. This situation reminds me of that one...Ronda is bigger of course....but that only makes the fall that much harder. Plus she was brutally knocked out to boot. I think she'll be done.
Hamed seemed Invincible? Did you see his fights with Kelley and Sanchez? Rousey never looked like that.
Good point. I guess Tyson would be the better analogy in terms of invincibility but with Tyson...he seemed more of a true fighter (in mentality) that a guy that lived off his own hype. Hamed, like Rousey, was more show and attention seeking and arrogance based on unbeaten record and the adulation of their fans. People like that fall HARD when they lose for the first time. I'd be surprised if Ronda comes back to dominate. Personally, I suspect she's done and doesn't even realize it herself as yet.
I don't know why Tate gets mentioned. We've already seen her get her ass whupped by Rousey twice and Cat once. She's basically Razor Rudduck. Her fame is based off two losses.
She gets mentioned because prior to Holm, she gave Rousey her toughest fight and seemed to be improving. She was also on a 4 fight winning streak and the #1 contender. Her last 4 fights were wins against the like of Carmouche, nikai, mcmann and eye. Tate always gets better.
She has lost in the olympics and has been down and out before. She is pretty strong mentally. This is a girl that had to deal with a pretty fucked up life and overcame it. She can get past this, but she has to dedicate herself to training and growing. Get back with her mom and start finding the right gym. Stop being around yes men all the time. This win could be the best thing that ever happened to her. Anderson Silva lost several times before coming to the UFC and becoming on the best ever.
btw, another i want to mention is that last year i mentioned that holm reminded me of Jon Jones and actually trains with him. That Oblique kick that Holm threw was a huge factor in the fight too. It, along with some punches really stopped Ronda from coming in. It was not just punches.
I guess if Tate gets 5 cracks at Rousey she could win one. Kinda like LaMotta and Robinson with the difference being LaMotta won the first one then lost the rest.
That is kind what I said before. Tate is learning from her fights with Rousey. But tate is a gym rat and is always improving when she can.
I agree that Jackson's gym would be great for her. Good call on her weight. However, I don't think 135 is too small for her, I just think she needs to worry more about her weight when she's not fighting. She's all thick, strong, and bulky. I would think she could hover in the low 150's and make the cut a lot easier. Previously, though, I think she has felt not worrying about her weight has helped her. Look how big she was for Entourage. Vanity would have made most anyone else cut more weight for that movie appearance. Do you think UFC would accommodate her at 145? There just can't be enough fighters at 145 to make it a weight class, can there? Of course, there's one sorta girl out there who would make a headliner against Rousey at 145.
Many people have been calling for a 145 division, even joe rogan. I think if Ronda stays and says she cant make 135 anymore, the UFC will make 145. But i honestly felt Ronda wanted no part of cyborg, so who knows.

30 bouts at light heavyweight didn't prepare Spinks for Mike Tyson. Not mentally not physically. We can talk clever in hindsight now but before the bout Holm was given no chance at all way less than Spinks before the Tyson fight and Rousey was to the female UFC bantamweight division what Tyson was to the heavyweight division. Obviously whatever it was that prepared Holm, prepared her and it could have been her 59 fights of course. All I am saying is it could have meant jackshit JUST like it did for Spinks vs. Tyson. And just because I agree with something you said and felt the need to put it in my own words because I didn't wanna criticize every aspect of your post doesn't mean I am parroting you. You need to get over yourself - you take yourself a bit too serious at times.

But that's just It, Even in "Losing" @ the Olympics, Ronda Still BRONZED...More Importantly, the MANNER of this Loss Was Unlike Anything You'll See in Olympic Judo...Bloody and Unconscious on the Canvas... Sure, Rousey's Upbringing was Pretty Shitty, but This Loss Came @ the Absolute HIGH Point of her Life...She was Undeniably the "IT" Girl, as Opposed to Being the UNDERDOG Having to Fight Thru Adversity...Ronda was Actually on a PEDESTAL this Time & That Fall from Grace Can Be HARDER to Overcome, than the Trials You Face Coming Up... REED Has Little Doubt Ronda Can Come Back and Be a World Class Fighter, but REED Can't See her EVER Overcoming the Mental Hurdle Associated w/Holly Holm...Holm is to Ronda what Holyfield was to Tyson; What Tarver was to Roy... REED:hammert:
Fuck You Dude.... You were CLEARLY Being a DICK in your Post to REED...You Said the Same EXACT Shit REED Said, then Threw it BACK @ him w/Attitude, As If You'd Made an Original Point or Something...Get Over YOURSELF, Prick... Your Spinks Analogy is FLIMSY as Hell, Because he was a Former Lightheavy Facing a HEAVYWEIGHT, Whereas Holm has Competed as HIGH as '54, Moved DOWN in MMA and Fought Rousey @ '35...Spinks Shit the Bed Mentally AND Had NATHAN for Tyson Physically...Apples and Oranges... Holm's 59 Bouts of Combative Sports Experience Clearly Meant MORE than "Jackshit", So Move the Fuck On, Asshole... REED:baa:
Only time will tell i suppose. I am definately interested in actually seeing what ronda looks like right now. But who knows. If Holy is Ronda's Holyfield, Ronda might as well move up cause that's wrap in the mental department. That being said, i see Cyborg doing worse damage at 145
Tyson still had a good career post-Buster and post-Holyfield and made a lot of money. Also, this loss is much more like Douglas. Cyborg would be Holyfield if she kicked Ronda's ass.
The amount of smack she's getting on the net and the humiliating manner of her defeat will weigh very heavily on her psych.
"If you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen". She has an arrogant persona, comes across as a bitch, and was just too cocky. She was even hypocritical with the whole domestic violence bit. I wont shed a tear for her. Fuck her.
it's certainly possible, but i'm unsure whether rousey can ever beat holm. stylistically, the only way she can beat holm is to close the gap and get her to the ground, but even when she had that opportunity, holm was able to escape. also, the media/social media reaction has been unbelievable. i've never seen a reaction like this from the mass when a super star prize fighter had taken a devastating loss. when roy got KOed by tarver, sure, the message boards lit up, but i dont think twitter was even around. were memes around then? rousey is probably the most polarizing prize fighter since mayweather, except i didn't realize that there were this many haters that are glad that she lost the way she did.
She made her bed and now she must lie in it. There was zero humility in her persona. "...being an old farm boy myself, chickens coming home to roost never made me sad...in fact it only ever made me glad."
There are very few fighters that I'm a fan of in the sense that I really want them to win. Starling, McCallum and Pryor were guys that I really pulled for in boxing. In MMA, Penn, Mir and Jon Jones are the same. Rousey isn't one of them. But I gotta be honest, watching Rousey's fall is depressing. i can't stand arrogance from athletes because eventually most run into someone that's bigger, stronger and faster. So I understand the public hatred for Rousey. On top of her arrogance, many people can't stand other people succeeding. But damn, some of the Twitter stuff is heartless. I kind of paused however when Meisha Tate jumped on the Twitter hate bandwagon. Tate's comments would make you think SHE actually did something on Saturday night to erase the two brutal loses to a Rousey. That honestly might be sadder than watching a battered, bleeding Rousey crying "No" when asked if she was alright. Or not.
I don't fuck with twitter much so I don't know if dudes are the same way...but Tate, Cyborg, that last ugly brazilian bitch Ronda beat up....they are all on twitter boucing around happy of what happen....Tate got her BEAUTIFUL ass DESTROYED by Ronda...that Brazilian ugly brazilian bitch lasted what 40 seconds?...and Cyborg...UGLY DUDE you just lose yourself the biggest payday of your career...fuck you throwing shade for..

i wonder if cyborg will still try and make 135 now that rousey's no longer the champion. i think holm vs tate is a somewhat of an interesting fight. i'd make holm a solid favorite considering her superior stand up and good tdd, but i'm curious to see if tate is able to secure a takedown or two and actually sustain top position. i doubt it, but nevertheless, an interesting fight.
