Reminiscent of a GOOD Wife Having her Man's Back, when Another Bitch is Talking Shit About Him...Chris Brown Said "These HO's Ain't Loyal", but Brother Sly Definitely Is... REED
Problem is based on mma rules, a single leg takedown is a boxers biggest nightmare. The boxers isn't going to have much power pushing towards the floor. Once the boxer is on his back, a simple submission will end it.
Mma rules a fighter could start on the ground and crawl to him. He can't kick them and his power will be negated by throwing towards the ground. Ask James toney
In a street fight, I agree in an mma fight with mma rules and an expert wrestler or black belt in bjj, I don't know. Like I said, a boxers biggest nightmare would be a double leg takedown.
A boxer would get subbed in 5 seconds or less on the ground. A mate of mine (kickboxer) turned up to a BJJ gym to try his hand at it. He's 200lb, trained with a little guy around 150lb and was subbed instantly, over and over and over. Eventually he got the shits and punched the guy in the face on instinct, and was politely asked to leave ::
My my point is this, and I don't want to be misunderstood. I'm not saying that people like Rhonda Rowsey or Miesha Tate or Holly Holm can beat Floyd. I am talking about a proficient wrestler or someone on the level of a black belt in Brazilian jujitsu. Mind you, this is very rare for women. There are also rules and MMA that prevent certain punches and kicks when an opponent is in a position.
Floyd made his bed too. If he lost in a dominating knockout fashion, he'd have likely received similar treatment from his haters. Difference is though, that Floyd has earned the right to be arrogant: being a champion since 1998, champion in 5 weight classes, 49 fights undefeated half of those championship fights etc. Longevity at the top has backed up his words. Ronda, with just 11 wins, fighting for only 4 years and over mainly mediocre women...got hyped too much too soon and let that hype get to her head.
Same here, I was beginning to warm towards her and then the weight in happened. She obviously needs that edge to perform at her best. Understandable but not very likable .
This isn't about Floyd. In fact going into last weekend's fight there wasn't ONE person I spoke to that didn't want Holm to kick Rousey's ass. I was at a PACKED Sports bar and everyone was celebrating at her loss.
Plus Holly Holm is such a sweetheart: Soft spoken, calm, humble, pleasant and consistently so. Why wouldn't anyone want her to beat that bitch? This was a beautiful result...I'm still celebrating. This was a victory for the good guy (girl). This was also a victory for boxing. I couldn't be happier.
Yeah sorry, he's one of your boys. I don't dislike the guy and he's great for the sport, but he's a bit Rousey-esque in that he's unorthodox, very good, and arrogant. Aldo is the complete fighter and I like cream staying at the top. Solid Muay Thai and very well rounded. I like that and have bet on him to win. McGregor will give him a hard time though.
Def a victory for Holm. She was a nice contrast to Rousey, seems genuine, down to earth and stuff about bursting into tears is very girly. But she's a badass. I watched more of her stuff, where she got a boxing beatdown and came back in the rematch to win a UD. Showed a ton of heart. For the Rousey fight it's obvious she trained her arse off. I think Holm is just flat out a better fighter than Rousey. As for boxing, well her hands blew Rousey away really, that was her big weapon...but her kickboxing finished the fight, and her defensive grappling kept Rousey off throughout, so more than anything it showed great versatility, something Rousey lacks.
From a boxing standpoint, Holm worked out in Rd 1 that her laser lead left was the weapon of choice. In Rd 2 she really made that count with footwork, almost constantly circling to the left because Rousey was trying to pull lead and cut her off. Holm would stop, drop and BOOM, lead left hand down the pipe. Rousey was inevitably square on and never saw them coming. Fish in a barrel. That's boxing.
Agreed, I'm no fan of Laila Ali (and agrees with most of what Reed said about her) but you can't blast her for avoiding Wolfe and disregard Rousey not fighting Cyborg. And at the time she was fighting, Ali was considered the best women fighter in the world with Wolfe and Rijker, so people here claiming she was a fraud yet praising Rousey (who mostly fought garbage too) are being way too hard on her.
Ill be rooting for Conor but... part of me wants to see a prime Aldo turn up and kick ass. Conor is good for the sport no question about that. However these new fans drive me crazy with their notions that Conor will walk through Aldo and anyone else for that matter with ease.
This Floyd stuff is getting tiresome. Why does he have to be brought into every topic I'm discussing? I'm talking about Rousey not Mayweather. Secondly, I'm a fan of Mayweather the fighter, not the man...and I've said this repeatedly. Thirdly, I'm a fan of Roy Jones and Muhammad Ali, two guys that were just as arrogant as Floyd. I just happen to root against Rousey, like I rooted against Hamed and Eubank in the past. I don't like her. Plus Mayweather is not as bad a guy as everyone makes him out to be anyway...ask Diego Corrales' widow, for example and many other people.
Floyd is CLEARLY In Need of Humbling Too, but Your Fandom PREVENTS You from Admitting it, Bro... So When You REPEATEDLY Harp on Rousey's "Arrogance", it's Only Natural to Point Out Your HYPOCRISY, as a Floyd Fan... REED
Hypocrisy swings both ways though bra...I've never saw you once criticize Roy Jones for his arrogance, so what's your problem with Floyd's?
I have had my issues with Ronda and some on here can attest to. But arrogance has never been my problem with her. I think Ronda's always been clear that it's not arrogance but belief in one self has to be so high that nothing can change that. Mike Tyson use to do the same thing. She has had issues with some fighters, but for her own personal reason. I get her beef with tate and i get her beef with Bethe. Other than those two, she has been pretty nice to everyone she has ever fought. But she has a strong belief in herself that every great fighter should have. I dont fault her for it. My issue with Ronda was actually more with people not seeing the holes in her game and her coaching staff taking advantage of her ground game and dominance and use that as a way to incorporate her boxing into that greatness. I also didnt like that fact that she was willing to go up to 160 to fight Ali or 150 to fight carrano, but not willing to go up to 140 to fight cyborg. And the fact that people defended that drove me nuts. But what is going on right now with Ronda and the amount of hate she is getting because she got beat is ridiculous. Silva was a super confident fighter and he never got this abuse. Jon Jones is cocky and guarantee when/if he loses he wont get this abuse. People wont be calling him a fraud and shit. ONE thing Ronda is not, is a fraud. She is young and with a new coaching staff she can be fucking unstoppable. SHe has heart, she has talent, all she needs is great coaching. And that fucking Edmond isnt a great coach.
